What's your name?

Karl Burdack

What's your job description / position?

Lead Programmer

How long have you been doing this stuff?

Nearly 5 years.

What stuff have your worked on in the past?

This will be the first title i've worked on that gets released. I have worked on some in house projects that never came to light.

If you could make any game you wanted, what'd it be?

Well.. I dont want to give away some of our best game ideas :).. One project I'd like to work on is a 3rd person 3D RPG game. There are plenty of games I enjoyed that i'd love to do a sequel to as well. But thats never going to happen :).

What are a few of your favourite games?

Hmm, ones I really enjoyed were: Ultima Underworld 2, Myth 1 and 2, Crusader - No Regret, Fallout 2, Thief II, Ultima 7, Quake, Heretic II, Civilization II, Diablo.

What do you think will happen to computer games in years to come?

They will continue to become more complicated. Programming and Art teams will grow in size as consumers expect more and more content.

Online gaming will become more commonplace among casual gamers, and story driven single player games will remain popular.

Unfortunately the industry will continue moving toward pleasing the masses, as sales, bugdets and other pressures rise.

What do you usually do outside of work? (Extra-curricular activities?)

I spend lots of my time playing computer games, and I still don't have enough time to play all the games I want to. I occasionaly play sports such as squash or tennis. I also enjoy watching movies at the cinema. Recently I have also become interested in the sharemarket.

What are a few of your favourite films?

That changes from week to week. Recent ones I can think of are The Matrix, Gladiator, and Fight Club.

What was the last film you saw?

At the cinemas Gladiator. I saw Sling Blade on video recently, that was a really good movie too.

Is there anything worthwhile on TV?

No.

What kind of music do you listen to?

Anything that's selling cheap and is not Rap or Pop.

What are a few of your favourite musical artists?

I dunno. I dont buy music based on who the artist is.

What are a few of your favourite books?

I must say I enjoyed Carl Sagan's Demon Haunted World. A classic novel that I really liked was 1984.

What celebrity would you be interested in meeting?

Cannot really think of someone.

What's in your home computer rig?

I've got a couple of low end computers. The best one is a Pentium II with Voodoo 2. Not too good considering how much I play games.

What electronic 'gadget' do you wish you had?

Havent put much thought into this. A laptop computer would be nice. I've still got to get around to buying a pocket organiser. One of those money printing press things would be handy also. :)

What type of car do you drive?

Mitsubishi Magna V6 Sports.

What type of car do you wish you drove?

Car I've got now is fun enough.. One day I might look at something more expensive.

What's your favourite pizza?

I really like chilli - chicken pizza, so long as there's heaps of chicken on it.

Coke or Pepsi?

Either.

Boxers or Briefs?

Briefs.. Boxers are just too weird!

Thanks Karl!
