Dunno if anyone reported this, but instead of getting my lovely FTP 100 errors or whatever when I post, resulting in most people double or even triple posting, I'm now getting the following message. DAC background and such is still there, but this message is displayed instead of the standard (well used to be standard, perhaps standards have changed?) Post succesfully complete, go to thread go to forum, whatever. Here have fun.

"Failed sending email :: PHP ::

DEBUG MODE

Line : 234
File : /home/staff/public_html/forums/includes/emailer.php"

Hope it means something/helps.

I got that in the midst of my quadruple post in the RNC thread.

EDIT: of course, I got it while posting this too. I just clicked the link back to the index, came back here in the trash can, and found that my post DID make it through. So... I guess we can just ignore these errors for now.

Yea pretty much, thats what my habit of doing things is now whenever something goes wrong, I post, get an error, click back twice, hit refresh and see if it made it, if not then I repost.

I just try to submit it again if something zany happens, and then delete one of the posts if I doublepost

What would be really helpful, would be the threads people get this error in. What's happening is people are ticking the "Notify me when a reply is posted" setting. When you reply, the forum checks if anyone has that setting ticked, it finds that someone does, so it tries to send an e-mail. Only for some reason, it can't send the e-mail...

I'll look into it.

The easiest way to solve this problem if for clowns to not select to be notified.

I've never had and never will have the notify on.

But I still get that error message from time to time. Eat that.

Yeah, except if there's a problem with the email function, it's going to affect everything else that this forum e-mails too... So e-mails sent on registration won't be sent and so on.

On the bright side, I am gradually narrowing down the possible list of why things are going wrong.

The point is that if someone DOES have it, phpbb tries to send the email to that person when you post. Makes no difference who posts the message.

Also, while we're at it DU, I have been experiencing weird phenomena which is basically that everytime I leave I'm logged back out (Despite my settings) BUT as soon as a click on something that requires me to be logged (like going into the general discussion) it takes me back to the forum index and I'm logged in.

That happens to me too Wolfman. I just ignore it, as everything works right as soon as you click on a forum. Let's just call it a little quirk that DAC has.

I had that for a while too. Especially while I was messing with the cookie settings. Follow my instructions in the last post here and let me know if you still have the problem.
