Yay! Fallout: The book. Not a bad read. An epic tale of nuclear thievery by evil people who want to blow stuff up! More pre-apocalyptic then post-apocalyptic, seeing as the bad guys get thwarted an' all...
<br>
<br>Anyway, click on the little image on the front page to see the front and back covers. Exciting!

The front cover looks like someone got way overexcited in photoshop. "Hmm. How can we make a nuclear explosion more exciting? I know, let's make it a nuclear explosion.... BUT IN SPACE!"

Actualy, KJA is one of the better SW authors.

As long as he's kept away from super weapons at least, he loves a good super weapon.

Heheh, I read that book a while back. Pretty much all I can remember is "area 51 + UN killar forces delusions + nuke built up bit by bit by nutty TERRORISTS = yay plot!"
Oh well. It kept me busy. :)
Tits.

Ouch. I thought it was a book like the ones from Starcraft, Baldur's Gate etc. Based on story.

Or '200 Pages Of Why Bethseda Can't Do Fallout 3 Well', nyah nyah nyah.
Serious Business.

It's a post-apocolyptic book, it kinda has to involve a super weapon of some kind.

I see your point, but PA does not need to be of man's (or aliens') making, consider meteorites and comets, gigantic floods and erthquakes, and plagues. They don't involve weapons yet they have the capacity to create a PA world (be it merely for setting a story in it).

As regards the book discussed, I personally don't like the fact that it is titled "fallout" while it is not related to The Game(s), especially as The Game is a well established and known cultural artefact, the evidence for which is this very site.

PS: posting system is messed up (or is it my browser?) - when I click 'submit' it transfers me to the 'log in' page (despite I logged in before writing the post)

The book is from March 1997, before the game was even released, and I wouldn't call it THAT well known even now, outside the cRPG fandom.

damn it, blunder <blush> I didn't check the release date, I thought it was pretty recent since it's in the News... silly me. (no irony)
and I wouldn't call it THAT well known even now, outside the cRPG fandom.
well yes, on the one hand, but on the other hand I was speaking from the point of view of the cRPG fandom. Call me biased. If the book was released after the (relative) international success of F1 & 2, they should not use this title for an otherwise unrelated publication <= and this is my personal, subjective, biased opinion.

Anyway thanks for telling me the release date Ausir so that I no longer make a fool of myself.

Maybe it's Interplay who shouldn't have made a game that was an obvious rip-off of the title of this great writer of boring Star Wars books?

I wouldn't be surprised if no one involved in the game's development had even heard of this book prior to the game's release.
