Unsolvable Junction City

Post by foot »

I can't seem to solve the Junciton City map in FOT.

I convinced the mechanic to join and got the activator and robot arm from Juan and the guy with the bar.
I killed the reavers in the house to the north-east, and then went back to the mayor.
Whenever I talk to the mayor, he gives me a speech (Well, you certainly don't.... this town doesn't need any more attention... here, take it.), but he doesn't give me an item.
I can go back to him over and over and get the same speech. I have tried stealing but can't find anything in his inventory. I've also tried killing him and found that he carries nothing.

What do I have to do to end this mission? I am running 1.27.

Hmm well the give item triggers are a little buggy, I recently replayed Preoria and even though none of the Tribals had been killed the Chief didn't give me the 4th power cell.

The head it's self should be visable, have you a save game from before the Reavers attack? Have a look to see if the Mayor is carrying the head at the start of the mission.

Did the Reavers get into the town? Because there are triggers set up for them to attack the Mayor and steal the head, I've never let them get that far so I don't know if they work or not but search all the Reaver corpses for the head. If you can't find it you'll have to replay the mission sorry.

Also double check the inventories of all your squad, sometimes the item goes to the nearest squad member not the one who talks to the person. Plus have you found the 4th part you need all 4 parts to complete the mission.

Just had a look at it in the editor, and they'll attack and kill the Mayor but won't steal the head. I couldn't spot a trigger to transfer the head, so I double checked their AI and they're set to looter which doesn't work.

So back to Foot's problem, since the Mayor doesn't have the head, double check that it hasn't been passed to another team mate, and go find the 4th part, you might just be missing the sprite for the robot head, in which case it's in your inventory but invisible. You should get some world text pop up once you have all the parts telling you to head to the exit grids.

If none of your team mates has the head then restart the mission and before you do anything else go see if the Mayor has the head.

Got the head but still cant get out of the town!

Post by foot »

I took your advice and

1) Purchased the fake robot part from the guy you see when you enter the walls of the town
and 2) Looked through all of my characters' inventory for the head.

I found the head and put all four parts (three real and one fake) in my main character's inventory.

I still can't get a message saying that I have completed the mission and still can't get out of the town.

Is there anything else that I can do?

Yeah go find the real 4th part! :D Seriously there is another part, I can't remember where it is off the top of my head, but chances are you've already been in the same area. Time to search some containers.

I've read everything that I can get my hands on, including a walkthrough, and I cannot find a mention of a fourth part.

Does anyone else who has completed this mission remember a fourth part (actually a fifth, if you count the one that the first guy sells to you.) ?

IIRC it's the torso of the robot.

You need to find the robot's head, arm, torso and activator.

the mayor has the head, iirc.
the reavers have the torso,
i think the bar tender has the actuator and juan the shop dude has the arm.

plus you have to kill all the reavers. (most?)

The triggers are set up so that the objective is completed if there are less than 5 Reavers left alive.

are there more than 5 at that little house south of the main city?
you should check down there, and also off to the north east, if thats the case.
you could have just not killed them all..

That's including all the Reavers, it's set up like that because there are some other Reavers down the other end of the map, but it isn't necessary to kill them to complete the mission. If you haven't killed enough Reavers then the Mayor won't use the speech node that Foot's been getting. Theorectically if you stole the head off the Mayor and you could sneak into the Reavers house and find the torso, then go get the arm and activator on your way to the exit grid you can do the mission without killing any Reavers.

now what fun is letting all of the reavers live? Plus you wouldn't get some sweet ass weapons.

Never said that you should, only that it's possible to complete the mission that way.
