Here is Version 0.89 of my mod.

Get it here
www.xkcon.net

To play it you need to do the following:

First go to your fallout tactics folder, and make a copy of your 'core' folder, and rename it 'myoldcore' (or whatever else you want). Now go to the 'core' folder and delete the files:

'campaign','entities','gui','locale','sound','sprites','tables','tiles',

now unzip my file and copy the mod folders (of the same name that you just deleted) into the 'core' to replace the ones you deleted.

you should be good to go.

It's a huge world to explore, with so much to see and do. The Mod has a slight rebalancing of (some) weapons making some of them more worthwhile to use. There are many NPCs in the various towns that will join up with you. I'm sure if you play deep enough you will find something that makes you happy.

And for those who aren't into plots/stories, there is a mode just for you too.

but I will let you all find it on your own.

Play the mod in toughguy mode you can save on any map or mission or bunker. You can't save on random or special encounters.

The mod should mostly be bug free, there are a few places where I didn't completely finish what I had originally intended, but It should mostly go un-noticed (mostly). If there are 20 or so guys that like the mod and want more, I will continue to add content to get to my original vision and complete version (version 1.0).

Any bugs or problems, let me know.

I will start this over next week.

I believe it will go well with the eating of carcass.

I started playing this the day you put it out. It's really goddamn difficult, which is a good thing. I'm playing on normal + tough guy which the NPCs said to do. I've been playing in a mix of CTB and TB depending on the battle. The amount of scripting is incredible. Did you just use the FOT editor for that? If so, no wonder this took you like 4 years. Dealing with the built in FOT Tools script editor is horrendous. Starting out on the first mission will kick your ass. There's a lot more enemies on every default FOT map. If you don't have a squad member with outdoorsman, be prepared to get into far too many random encounters. The new maps are really nice and props on the mapping skills. I just got to the relay station.

No sorry, I didn't include any new armor or new vehicles, My mod is really more about experiences and stories.

However, I told myself that whenever I get my 'base' world (version 0.89) out there that I would definitely include the Awesome new cars and armors, and weapon sprites in my first expansion.

I toyed with idea of adding the child sprite, but that opens up the child killing angle. I felt I should avoid it for now.

However in the future I may add child sprite into my world. I remember the first time in Fallout when I accidently killed a kid and became demonspawn and was hunted by bounty hunters... PRICELESS EXPERIENCE.

Yeah, I did make it way harder, now it's more about building strong characters, and like you said, you will need an outdoorman skill specialist (with a scout/ranger perk is always good!!).

I played with the Random encounters alot, and I think everbody's machine will influence the amout of RE's that you get. I think on an older computer you will experience less encounters. If people don't like the amount of REs, I can scale them back in an update no problem.

Also... There is a cheat mode that allows you to completely switch off the Random encounters... But this is related to the survival mode (but not the same thing)... so I don't want to say more... Also too, there are some 'corridors' you can travel to avoid lots of REs.

Every attempt at downloading this file from Dropbox fails. Even tried a download manager which doesn't seem to work with DB. Can you put this up as a torrent? Pirate Bay would be good.

I checked it out. I tried and successfully downloaded it (twice). The link seems to work. I am sorry for any inconvenience. You can also try 'moddb'

here's a link:

Sniper potato, Awesome!!, thanks for supporting me, with the mirror.

I hope the mod can get into the hands of all the FOT 'oldtimers'
like yourself, and Redeye have already got it.

I hope VasikKa, PiP, requiem, amaru, atoga, and JJ86 and OTB (and others) will all give it a playthrough. There is some real nice 'art' in there, and lot's of blood and guts and depravity too . heh.

Hey guys, I have released the first update for my mod. Just a few minor tweaks and one small bug fixed.

I realized that somehow I accidently released incomplete versions of two maps. The new changes will be mostly unnoticable (mostly), but I recommend upgrading anyway, so that you don't have any sloppy incomplete maps.

You can get the (new) full version 0.891 at my website here:

http://www.xkcon.net/

Also, If you already have version 0.89,and don't want to do a big download again, then you may choose to download the smaller patch that I have provided. All you need to do is go to my website's download page and click the button:

[Files V0.891] - for a much smaller DL. The files patch includes all the new changes but excludes the sprites, tiles, and sound folders which you won't need to reload.

Well there seems to be at least a few guys playing my mod. So at this time, I will say:

The first person that can find 'The tomb of xkcon' in game, and post a screenshot of thier squad in my tomb will win the contest. I will reward the first tomb robber with thier own personal starting squad in a future release of my Mod. That's right, I will immortalize 3 of your own custom created characters and allow them to be a selectable squad at the start of the game.

Post a screenshot of your squad clearly visible inside my tomb (close to me on my throne) and also post a screenshot of your character screen of your squad.

To be eligible to win the contest, you need to be playing version 0.891 (or higher). I will know if you're cheating.

(exception here for 'Sniperpotato' who may be in too deep on version 0.89. So I give him a pass because he said he started playing on dayone. everyone else has be using version 0.891 to be eligible)

Good luck, I doubt anyone can desecrate my tomb...

Ok guys, the new update is out.

Version 0.892 fixes a few problems, and should be a much more stable version. Also, now there is less Random encounters.

Hey guys. I'm back.

Here is version 0.893 . it is very stable and playable. All things Quartz should be fixed. As well as begin to address the problem of 'Invisible Undead' on some maps.

It was originally supposed to be released in March, but because of the fire, I was away from my PC until just recently, so the release was delayed.

Anyways you can get it here:
