Hi,

Since I like to play FO series so much and I replayed it over and over, I would like to learn how to make Mods for it. Problem is, I dont know anything about making mods. Any gurus here?

Fallout Modding is a fairly broad topic- the best way to go about it (in my opinion), is to grab some of the tools and just mess around with the files.. If there is anything specific you are interested in changing, we might be able to help you out or point you in the right direction..

Thanks,

So first of all, what do I need to download? FaME? DAT packer?

The only things you really need to download is the appropriate DAT unpacker (listed in the Fallout Modding 1 post). Beyond that, it is all depended on what you are wanting to change.

FAME is good for running several mods at one time in Fallout2.
FIME and FIC are for editing item files...
DatExplorer and DATMan Light explore the *.dat files (Master.dat is where most of the editable files are(items and stuff) You can also make new dat-files and pack your edited files into them. Use with FAME)
F*CK! (Yes, that is really the name of the tool  ), you can use for editing critter files.
Plus, you have FrmConverter and frm2bmp and bmp2frm for visual editing.
And, Acm2Wav & Snd2Acm for audio editing...
These are the most important programs as far as I can see. Now, there are several other alternatives to a some of the progs i listed here, and you might want to give 'em a try...
Oh, and... You'll definitely want to read almost every tutorial you come over... You can start off with reading Temaperacl's excellent tutorials right here on these forums...
