Weapons for FO, wadda ya want?

Since Bethesda decided to make Fallout 3, we figured we might as well have a forum about it.

Browning Hi-Power, Krag 98, Mosin M44, weapons with a desperate feel and look to them, as if they could break or fall apart at any moment. However, they perform quite well otherwise. The above don't necessarily equal desperation, but I think they might fit well within the FO universe.

Hell yes to that, also if they did like what was suggested for Van Buren and took the Mad Max/Road Warrior approach of post holocaust scarcity of ammunition so that what bullets you had counted and hand fashioned and improvised weapons prevailed, well, that would just rock.

Of course bullets could become more readily available upon joining certain factions with the means to produce them but would still be relatively scarce in comparison to previous fallout games. That paired with old timey guns for what IS available could be pretty fucking cool.

Oh, and as far as older guns are concerned my vote goes to the PPSh-41
my vocabulary skills is above you.

Colt Peacemakers. I'd be tempted to play the entire game with one of those (provided there were no Colt Pythons).

All of whose weapons? Most of the US's military weapons are domestically made I believe.

These sentences need not contradict eachother.
I dare say that they buy quit a lot of foreign gadgets too.
How much I am not at liberty to guess.
They do enjoy swedish quality though.

Still no contradiction to the nazi remark.
That is a good thing though.
The nazis made some high quality chit.
Especially compared to the russkis.

Vouch.

Guys to be honest, I'm not too bothered about the weaponry, but how it's balanced. What I'm afraid of is the Sneak skill. If they actually make it any good (have to admit, it was utterly useless in the first two games), Sneak + Melee Weapon will become damn imbalanced. Has anyone played Morrowind with a Thief? With high Sneak, Luck and Short Sword, you could approach 5 guys in a pack, stab each one of them in the back, cause a critical, hold down CNTRL so you Sneak right before their eyes and repeat the procedure.

Obviously, a huge role will be played by whether it's going to be RT or TB. Gosh, I wish they just made the game on the good old simple engines (then I wouldn't have to upgrade either, tee-hee).

Retro-futurism can have some OICW-type stuff. But it has to look Buck Rogerish.
Those two statements, "OICW-type stuff" and "Buck Rogerish" are mutually exclusive. The Buck Rogers guns didn't need to be designed with combat in mind, while the OICW did. The OICW is what a future rifle should look like or be like - in the real world. It's not what Fallout is about in either looks or potential.

Weapons which would fit in Fallout have mainly been discussed - WW2 weapons, such as the M3 Grease Gun, M1 Garands, M1 Carbines, etc., including a small amount of German guns; 1950s/1960s guns which don't look like prototypes, such as the M14, FN FALs (maybe, but they weren't really sold in America), H&K G3s (again, maybe, not really sold in America), M16s; then ray-guns in the Buck Rogers style.

No bullpup weapons, even though the first prototype was made in the 1950s (it wasn't used solely because the Americans didn't like the 7mm round used in the Enfield EM-2). No Russian weapons. Sniper rifles all calibrated in 7.62mm ammo. If there are any machine-gun weapons, I'll be looking for miniguns or else WW2/post-WW2 weapons, such as M60s, Browning M1917/M1918s or BARs. No FN Minimi.

I'm not sure but I think the first prototype even spawned in the 40s. Guess what country made it, ja?

Check this for further info abou guns!

IMO there should be no RL weapons at all. Or maybe one or two as easter eggs.

The french. The first bullpup design was patented by Henri Delacre in 1936.
Still no contradiction to the nazi remark.
Being that he said that ALL weapons are from Nazis and a majority of U.S. Weapons are from the U.S. which are NOT Nazis, there is a direct contradiction.

I can't think of anything off hand that's swedish that we use. Care to elaborate?

The AT-4 anti-tank weapon?

OK, the first serious prototype (as in one designed to be used as the main weapon of an army) was produced in the 1950s - the Enfield EM-2. Actually, if the country which was going to produce it had succeeded, they might not have such a shit weapon right now (the United Kingdom and the SA80).

Touche - though I wasn't thinking outside of small arms. Point taken.

The Russians developed a Bullpup rifle back in 1945. The EM-2 was just the first Bullpup to enter SERVICE. There's a difference.

That's not the point of the statement though. The first Bullpups date back to 1901 with the Thorneycroft carbine.

AT4/M136 rocket launcher.

As for weapons in the game lets cut the crap. We all know that having piles and piles of guns doesn't make the game great unless it's Chuck Heston and Ted Nugent's Minority Killing Spree 3D. You clamor for Lugers and AKs and OCIWs and XM8s and whatever other bullshit you fap to in Guns & Ammo. We all know you'll find the gun of your desire in game, use it to try and kill a raider and find it sucks and then sell it at the first opportunity for a Combat Shotgun, and all that work they put into implementing the gun goes down the drain.

This coming from a gun nut and NRA lyfe member, nigga.

FO3 should have:

- Handcuffs.
- Guitar string.
- Plastic bag.
- Blow torch.
- Spray gun filled with acid.
- The ability to rub fecal matter on the tips of penetrating weapons to make festuring wounds.

Then there's the M3 MAAWS, dunno if they use it anymore, but during the nineties the rangers and were using them.

And, the US navy rents AIP Submarines and their crews on a regular basis. (I know, not really a weapon)
Seems like they just cant find them. So they rent them again and again.

Also, I believe that the TCM (Trajectory Correctable Munition) was a joint project between swedes and americans. Dunno if anything evar came from it though. It probably isnt done, I think its supposed to be some new version of the excalibur.
The excalibur grenade has been delivered by bofors to the US army to be used in Iraq, in the AFATDS (Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System).

Though you're right about them sidearms.
