Star Trek Or Star Wars?

Post by Dark Xenomorph »

Star Trek is very very cool, but the force can destroy any federation ship! A light sabre is better than a photon Torpedo and Boba Fett is such a cool hard ass. I like star trek alot but Star Wars graps my attention more, this poll may not work ok?

While I enjoy both, Star Wars is better, IMO. I always hate how in ST all the humans are perfect, and work for "the betterment" of mankind. And how there is no money in the Federation. Now there are problems with this: If there is no money involved, then corporations, who manufacture goods or services in exchange for money, cannot exist as entities, as they have no reasons to manufacure, because they would get no benefit. Now, the goods and services are still there. Which means one thing: Everything is controlled by the government. If it manufactures everything, then it is fine, because it will exist anyway, and they are producing the goods for their own society.

And all that means one thing: The Federation is a communism! Or a socialism! And that behind the scenes of their powerful fleet, they are secretly oppressing their people.

Anyways, aside from the conspiracy theories, a Jedi could destroy the combined armies of the Klingons, Dominion, and Romulans. Boba Fett could kick Kirk's ass. Or any ST character's for that matter.

Heh heh! Yep! All us Socialists may spew out bullshit about "equality for all classes" and "livable wages", but we're secretly in it so we can oppress people!

I like both but Star Wars is my favorite because it has more Interesting locations. The actual universe just seems more alive and real.

I got the impression that there wasn't money in Star Trek because it was no longer needed. Capitalism depends on scarcity to function. That's partly why the record industry and other copyright holders are wetting their pants now, since digital reproduction and distribution effectively removes the artificial scarcity of information that their business models have depended on for the past few decades. If technology and automation get to the point where food and power are effectively free, and land and raw materials really aren't an issue with space colonization and resource exploitation, then the basics of life plus plenty of luxuries will be available to everyone for free, absent an arbitrary system of laws or the like to create artificial scarcity of resources. We don't have corporations today selling air because it's generally recognized as a shared resource and is also overwhelmingly abundant. Nobody would buy it because it's just there for the taking, anyway. Although I generally think capitalism is about the best choice out there right now, I'd rather live in a post-capitalist society like Star Trek. Everyone would be more or less born independently wealthy and free to follow their own interests without having to worry about things like money or jobs.

I prefer ST.

Concerning technology and power:

- The feds can beam stuff! WTFOMG! Directly into the heart of that battlestation!

- Invisibility suits!

- Holodecks!

- Q can turn Boba Fett and the Emperor into two dead pink flamingos when he thinks about it...

But that doesn't reallly matter: ALIENS would overrun ST and SW both in no time....you can't keep a good xenomorph down...

MUHAHAHAH!!! STAR WARS ALL THE WAY! Yipeeeeeeee!!!

Star Wars would kick arse because...

- spaceships in star wars outnumber all the star trek ships out there and have alot more fire support. Turbo laser batteries and X-wings!!! 8)
- blasters fire more rapidly than those sissy phasers. Blaster rifles and concussion rifles! :x
- at least the characters of SW do not have to wear those non-protective tight outfits those ST characters wear. Body armor all the way!!!
:2gunfire:
I counter the threats of...um...I meant no insult by what I'm posting...

- sure the feds can beam stuff. Only when the Death Star's shields are down.
 - invisibility suits? Bah! Jedi mind tricks can do alot better.
- Q? I laugh at the letter. Sure it can go around doing what ever it pleases but remember...SW comes from another place and time...therefore Q is powerless. Hmmm, I would like to its expression when he tries to disrobe a Jedi! Q can suck my c**k!!!

Ah...xenomorphs...I agree with you on that, they well take over those squeaky clean starships and turn them into slimy old homes.

I prefer Star Trek over Star Wars, but that's only because of the original TV show. The new Star Trek stuff sucks. Enterprise is really craptactular, especially in the writing department. I think the episode with the pirates was the one where I quit watching because it was just so bad. The time travel stuff also annoys me because they use it way too much and they always screw up the paradox part of it.

Of course, the new Star Wars movies have sucked as well. The writing on the new movies seems almost like a fan fiction writer wrote it, one that didn't bother to check their facts to make sure it actually meshed well with the original movies.

Now, if you'd put Babylon 5 in this poll, I'd have voted for it instead of the other two.

Gotta be Star Wars. In Star Wars, when the ship gets hit, not everyone jumps around cheesily like in the original Star Trek. Deflecting blaster shots is cool as are the special effects and lightsabre duels, the list is endless. Did you know that most of Episode 2 is special effects as far as the locations are concerned? Done with Blue Screen technology.

I like Both.. Star wars have a better storyline and is livelier but Star Trek is more realistic, more scientific based.

As for why everyone in the Star Trek Ships jumps around when it get hits, it's supposed to be an entire ship as one and vibration travels best in hard medium...

well, actually... because the Directer Said so...

My Vote: Star Trek

The thing is that in Star Wars, all the ships and that look dirty old and used, like they should be. But Star Trek (exorcises evil ST demons from himself) look way too clean to be real. Has anyone pondered this. A LONG time ago... If it's so long ago then why the hell do they have lightsabres and laser blasters when we can't even make a simple laser pistol?

Although Star Trek had more depth into real issues and problems, Star wars simply had such a vast and fleshed out universe. Vote: Star Wars.

Voting for my brother who wants to say something about it. Voted Star Wars. I wasn't sure which was better until I saw Yoda in Episode 2, that convinced me. Ok, you've had your say now shoo, shoo.

Oh.. erm.. Star Trek Was not clean... It was really dirty... Only the ships are really made of some wired metel in their centuary.

Juz compare the Federation ships to the Klingons... Or better Still, the Borg. :?

There is an entire Pocketbook and NASA reality comparison for almost every expects of the Show. Get this... Phaser Guns are real technology?? :?:
Or I'd probably read it wrong...

Anyway... a New ST movie will be out on 2003. I think. Looking forward to it..

By the way... I think this poll has not made it clear what we should be voting for actually... The winner if ST and SW meets and fight, the show itself or the ideas behind the shows... Hmm....

I voted based on the ideas...

Q? HAHAHAHA! Like I said earlier, he or she I call Q a it, cannot affect SW. You know why? Because it is located in a universe far different than the one in ST. I would love to see the look on Qs face when it sees his powers have no effect what so ever on the Jedi! The effect should be the same as yasalamari. It could teleport or walk right in but can't think its way out! Now it's payback time for playing god with the universe. A race like that does not deserve to live if it does not know the difference between good and evil. :x

Well, about clean ships...I agree on the Klingons being dirty but the Borg seems...nah their not so clean too. :D

STAR WARS RULES! and so does Jar-Jar!

Oiie, oiie, mesa jules!

It's heresy to even question the quality of the Star Wars movies, all five of them are enormously much better than Star Trek!
