I had trouble with F2 on XP -- ending cutscenes were cut short. Big bummer, since that's why I spent hours and hours running all over the desert, helping this guy, killing that guy. It was the last straw!

Now I'm back to Win98. No XP, no cry.

I'm playing Medieval Total War and it's pretty amazing. At first glace, Shogun Total War was better, though.

You don't need to plant the bug. I always get Gizmo to hire me to whack Killian, that's always good enough for Killian. Next scene, we're back in Gizmo's office, giving him the works.

Planting the bug might grant some more experience, though...

I always get that girl to rat them out. You talk to her in the hall at the Crash House, then two days later she's moved to a nearby room. Talk to her again, convince her to testify, then talk to Lars. This is the last thing I do in Junktown, and never come back, so I don't know if Vinnie and friends...

By the way, what is that other room? The one in the upper right corner of the lowest level of the Enclave base. Broken quest? Scenery?

I know I've spent at least an hour trying to find a way in, just to see if there's anything in there.

Demand drives all economic activity. It is why the US cannot win the war on drugs, it is why the Berlin wall came down. It cannot be controlled -- it is merely the whim of the consumer. In a free market, there is no restriction on supply, and people are able to trade freely to satisfy their demands....

Real Estate

As a former Ultima Online player, the one major gripe I walked away with is the definite lack of real estate. You had to buy a house from another player -- there was no land left to place a new house. Of course, this meant that every inch of flat land was covered in houses. The only time you could g...

Personally, I'm waiting (and experimenting myself, but that's top secret) for someone to write a game where your citizens build for themselves, given the right economic conditions. Even minor government buildings, like post offices and revenue agencies should appear automatically as long as enough m...

Well, I live in St. Louis (in the city itself, not some suburb), and most of it would look improved if it looked like New Reno. It's a lot more like the Necropolis, with cars and sports teams. Go Cardinals!

The thing is, in MOO, when a new breakthrough occured, you could bump the underlying slider in every system under your control. One clicked button and every system was on the job. When you wanted to invade an enemy (or relocate colonists), you could just send transports, which killed the logistical ...

I disagree. My characters typically have 9 intelligence and 7 charisma. I pumped speech past 100% and witnessed no effect on conversations from the previous game. I was dipping into the mentat supply as often as ever! So lately, I've been using good natured from the start, and haven't waste a single...

In AC you could tell your formers not to perform certain tasks. Maybe I was oing it all wrong, but I'd tell 90% not to build roads (and a few other things). I'd set the remainder to autobuild roads, and voila -- one snazzy looking empire. By the way, I know I just returned from the bar and it's 5 am...

MOO was the best. I just bought a copy (I lost my original copy) and was amazed I could still find it. MOO2 was good for multiple plantes, but like you said, bogging the game down with micromanagement was a huge mistake. I really don't understand why there aren't more strategy games out there that u...

You know, if you waste Tubby and Flick those kids will stop stealing. Plus it doesn't mess with your karma. Sometimes, this means no Cat's Paw from Flick, but there's plenty scattered about, if you know where to look. As for the kids outside the Hole, I haven't tried killing Frankie to get hem to st...

Yeah Alpha Centauri was better than Civ3 by leaps and bounds. I thought that the automation preferences and all the good stuff from Alpha Centauri would carry over into Civ3. Hell, I would've been happy if they slapped new pictures onto the old engine. Of course, they totally blew it. I don't even g...

Doc Holliday is the name of the doctor in Broken Hills. I think you need to pay the 1000$ to Dr.Fung(?) in Chinatown as Dr. Wong promises to return the spleen for free. I personally never have paid the 1000$ though. Hope I got the names right. If you ask Doc Holliday about his past, he will reveal ...

Actually, in a vain effort to save them, I planned my route to hit V13 as late as possible in the game. I actually returned after destroying the Enclave to find living deathclaws. The next time I returned, Frank Horrigan had magically resurrected himself to exterminate Gruthar's pack. It seems to me...

I love it when chronic cheaters try to defend themselves! Once someone assumes a defensive position, they begin to sound pathetic and guilty. If you can only win a game by cheating, then you can't win the game. It's like tearing out the solution to a crossword puzzle and filling in the blanks. You'v...
