Actually, they didn't go toe to toe with 'em... If I remember correctly, the BOS did the exact same thing with the Enclave that they did with the Super Mutant threat: they waited . The BOS bunkers in the FO2 region were merely listening posts, trying to figure out who the Enclave was, etc. Yeah, Fra...

I'm extrapolating from Morrowind's engine here, because while I'm sure the Oblivion engine is much different, they aren't going to change some underlying aspects: Morrowind's engine allows Plug-Ins, so that a character can save their game in an open field, quit, load a plugin, and load their game to...

Making the game pure 2D would be a death sentence.

Re: all three of you guys have hit the nail on the head

But in the Fallout universe those with the knowledge are fading away and tend to prefer to keep it to themselves
Except that pesky Fallout 1 ending where it states the Brotherhood begins slowly introducing and teaching others about technology.

Heh, forgot I registered here. Huge following of fans dedicated to the Elder Scrolls series. That doesn't exactly say anything about why they're a good choice for the developer of Fallout 3. Those fans aren't even the target audience of Fallout (although both audiences may overlap). Why do you assum...

Re: all three of you guys have hit the nail on the head

The trouble of releasing technology is people need to know how to use it and maintain it, with the Brotherhood in decline, the Enclave toast, and Vault City isolationist there's not a lot of people around to teach others how to keep the technology running. All it takes is a single knowledgeable per...

where right from the start, you can meander over to the Military Base and give 'em hell. Then waltz down to the Cathedral and give them hell too. Of course, you'd die horribly because you're only a level 1 but there were no limits preventing you from finishing the game when you were ready. The same...

Re: all three of you guys have hit the nail on the head

It depends on how much time has past, in-game, since Fallout 2. The longer the timespan between F2 and F3, the more I'm willing to tolerate a higher-tech future. Fallout 2's tech level seemed fine for me, because one of Fallout's endings basically says "the BOS releases technology with little c...

Its about appearance, and first impressions. Its easy to say "I'd rather have it buggy and have a good plot than be technically perfect and a bad plot", but I'd assume that most people aren't that tolerant of serious bugs. This first post of mine is brought by Google for making sure I spel...
