arcanum and torment are the only crpg's besides fallouts that i've beat, i tried baldur's gate but got bored rolling the dice, nwn was incredibly dull even for a dungeon slasher, i tried kotor and such but they seemed more like progressquest than an rpg, and i never even tried avernumb crap because...

2000 dollars is way over doing it. Liquid cooling, 12 gigs od ram, cross fire are all stupid. I'm thinking of getting a new computer soon too but there really isn't anything out to justify a computer like that cloudnine unless your doing intense video editing shit or something. +1 get a better setu...

answer your question with a question? Why not? I was just captivated by his first sentence. I imagine his wife is either mail order, or overweight. Figures you'd join in though when the topic drifts into male sexuality :chick: Just because I like videogames? Is there any reason to this at all, or d...

Another example of a metagame was lockpicking in the Thief series, as opposed to just clicking the use botton a la Oblivion. Don't you mean Morrowind? Personally I loved Morrowind, but Oblivion was a huge letdown. Well, I liked Oblivion too, but it was nothing compared to the mysticism of Morrowind...

yep, half life had great gameplay and interesting areas. definitely many nice things to remember, and huge replayability. Another game I finish quite frequenty is Fable TLC, actually. It may seem gay, but it has fun quests (easy game though), cool item gathering and a relatively capturing storyline.

The vast majority of quests in "modern" rpgs are just fetch quests with no real value. The player has no stake in anything. Fallout 3 was just a giant collection of fetch and messenger quests. The basic formula goes something like this: You happen upon some random person in your travels w...

Planar sphere was fun!
I am about to finish off Watcher's keep in ToB.
The boss in there is said to be the baddest one in all of the BG games, so I am excited! I have a powerparty though, so it probably won't be that challenging.

The origin stories in Dragon Age were interesting, even though I only tried two. But I agree that a lot of the quests are just there for you to do stuff and feel somewhat fulfilling. The characters at least have some depth to them. Have you tried Planescape Torment? I haven't played it yet, but I h...

Just started it. It seems very juvenile. The controls are fucked up, but I guess I'll get used to them. Graphics are about average. There is an alienness to the look and feel of the game. Kinda good and kinda bad. Shit that happens in real time needs to have totally responsive controls and excellen...

Prior to that, I played FO 1 and 2.

All good games make you think back at it and remember something awesome and fun. FO3 does none of these for me. The whole game consisted of constant reloading, in baaad need of getting criticalhits, or else I'd run out of ammo. Even at the end, I felt as squishy and shitty as the beginning. FO1-2, I...

"Good RPGs"

Hi guys! I'd like to hear with you all about what makes an rpg good. Personally, what I loved about fallout 1-2, BG 1-2, IWD, Fable, Gothic 1-2, etc, is that the quests are fun, you start out weak and end up really powerful, and having an interesting and creative storyline. A huge problem, in my opi...
