Nope. Because apparently, what was good enough to spawn legions of fans over the course of 20 years wasn't good enough for him.

I can't wait to see him add Jar-Jar Binks as an old Gungan in Episode V.

Artist's rights my ass... Lucas is a money-grubbing whore, everyone knows it, so why do they even bother with this kind of crap?

Of course, I still have to buy the damn trilogy...

That's why. Hopefully your original comment was rhetorical.

I lost all respect for Lucas' work many, many years ago. :drunk:

Has Lucas been freebasing some serious crack? So far he has managed to ruin the Star Wars universe for me. He has ruined Star Wars with his shitty improvments to something that was perfect in the first place. he seems to have gotten progressively shittier in respects to directing and screenplay writing. I really don't think there is much that can save his career except for the facts that countless idiot Star Wars will march out and buy the DVD trilogy when it comes out. I have the original VHS of all the old Star Wars films and I must they are awesome. The Special Editions were good but not necessarily needed in theatres but now that the Trilogy is coming to DVD it has gotten progressively crappier. I just can't wait to see the butchey of EpisodeIII.

It is my belief that Lucas is only ever decent when he has someone looking over his shoulder.

Look at the first three movies, where they were backed by people with money who took a risk with Lucas. He wasn't allowed to do whatever he wanted, he was ultimately responsible to the fellows who were paying his bills. That was the situation for the original Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back, problems start appearing with Return of the Jedi however. That's when Lucas can't think of a good adversary, and brings back the Death Star (great idea there Lucas) in addition to the the Ewoks (they say you can kill them in Battlefront, my brother has vowed to buy the game if that's true). By the time the third movie was in creation, the investors had decided that Lucas was a genius and allowed him more freedom, which he tends to screw up with.

These days, in his own corporate empire, Lucas is God. Problem is, he can't handle the responsibility, and has failed miserably.

Watch the original three again... notice the directing and the script is no better than Ep 1 and Ep 2. Yet somehow, the story is so captivating that we overlook that.

If by "failed miserably", you mean "failed to make shitloads of cash", then you're dead wrong.

As I recall Georgie had someone over his shoulder in Empire, and fired him because he was the only person who would stand up against stupid ideas. He was fired afterwords.

I've always maintained that Georgie boy was never a good writer nor director. He is a hooooooooorrible director. Horrible. He makes good actors look like teh nuBz.

Yeah the new star wars were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayy bad. Indiana Jones kinda lessens some of his many wrongdoings though.

See what makes Indiana Jones good is the fact that Lucas didn't direct the movie, he wrote and produced it. The difference is that Spielberg just so happens to know the difference between his ass and a hole in the ground.

Lucas on the other hand had one great idea and then he exploited it until it turned into crap. Movies are a lot like women, the more they get used the higher the chance to catch the Herpes.

I would like to get my hands on Indy's revolver though. I don't know how they did it but they managed to fit like 800 rounds into the gun. Usually in movies they make a big deal about reloading pistols, not automatics though. Being as with automatics it's like, "OH NO I'M OUT OF *SNICK-SNICK* LETS ROCK! *BLAM BLAM BLAM!* But revolvers is where they do it, "OH NO, I'M OUT OF AMMO! DAMNIT, THE EJECTOR'S JAMMED! THE EJECTOR'S JAMMED! FUCK! I JUST DROPPED ALL THE BULLETS ONTO THE FLOOR! I JUST NEED ONE TO FINISH OFF (insert bad guy/critter here)!" Not in Indiana Jones though, apperently his revolver is belt-fed.

I like how these two homos came up with the idea for Indina Jones though.

Stolen from IMDB.com:

The whole idea for the film came up in Hawaii, while George Lucas and Steven Spielberg were taking a holiday. They were both making a sand castle and decided they wanted to produce and direct an adventure film based on the 1940s serials. After their trip, they got together and developed the script with Lawrence Kasdan.

C'mon, these two have to be at least jerking each other off. Grown men do not make sand castles with each other unless A) they are drunk B) they both have kids of their own and decide to take them to the beach C) They are homosexuals or D) it's not really a sand castle but a scale model of a fortress that they are trying to break into. The last one only applies if you happen to kill people for a living and not just "sometimes I have to pop a perp" cop shit, but like, "they gave me a rifle and told me my job was to make headshots."

Lucas I think is really the gay one, while Spielberg isn't really into it, but Lucas keeps trying.

Oh, and if I EVER, and I mean EVER see Jar-Jar in any of the three original Star Wars films I will kill George Lucas and I will kill anyone else involved with okaying and creating Jar-Jar Binks. The streets of Hollywood will run red with the blood of asshats, Star Wars geeks be damned, if they come after me I will cut their balls off and feed them to my dog. It's not like they were using them anyway. I will then come home and barricade myself in the house. We've got enough food and water to last at least a few weeks and enough ammunition to take care of literally thousands of Star Wars dweebs. I will Forcefully blow the brains out the back of their head. Those plastic light sabres do you know good when matched up to some FMJ's.

What has stuck in my mind is that Lucas is digitally replacing the original Vadar actor in episode VI with that sucky teenager who plays him in the new movies.

In Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker is added as a ghostly image in the final scenes of the film, alongside Yoda and Alec Guinness' Obi-Wan Kenobi. But Sebastian Shaw remains as the face of Darth Vader/Anakin in the scene in which Luke removes Vader's helmet, and not Christensen, as had been rumored.

Hmm... the script and directing is most definitely better in the first two than Episodes 1 and 2. I don't ever remember being blinded by sudden cuts from bright planets to the darkness of space in the original three (which I did see in theaters, so I'm using that as a comparison, no watching it on a television), that's a rookie mistake.

Compare the infantile dialogue of the Anakin love scenes to the dialogue of the first two movies. Granted, it's not anything stellar, but at least it isn't downright idiotic.

Of course I mean fail miserably in the sense of art, when Hollywood makes money out of continuous shlock, I really can't care who makes money or not; it ceases to matter when compared to quality. Besides, at least this time Lucas's grand merchandising scheme failed. How many Jar-Jar dolls are piled in landfills I wonder?

'oh my lord, Mr. Teatime... someone kill Lucas now.
