Post apoc and a self-portrait.

Post by The Gaijin »

Both of these are old (the post apoc picture is around 10 months old and the portrait's more like 5) but I still think they're not too bad.

Image

If I were to do it today, I'd change his right foot and make him look a little less...well pretty, for lack of a better word. I still can't draw guns for shit though, so that one's pretty good.

A pretty accurate picture...except I'm not wearing glasses there. Those pants are the best coloring job (to date) that I've ever done.

The first one is pretty cool, it's a little more midieval than PA-- but it's cool. The second is good too, but it's not PA now is it?

Yeah, my wacom tablet is a slice of heaven mixed with UNFUNFUNF. The colors were done in Photoshop 7 with ZE WACOM, using (my beloved)wetmedia brushes.

I'm sorry, was I salivating? (Next, I'm going to try and tackle Illustrator)

As for not being very PA--sure it is. I always thought that FO raiders would look like that; a hodgepodge of armour cobbled together from the remnants of modern society, hence the medieval look, since after the bombs I doubt most people are going to have the means or ability to make anything pretty, they'll simply go for something effective...like strapping random pieces of metal to your body to deflect baseball bats and such.

First one is really good, aside from being a bit to anime inspired it seems. The left leg seems a bit out of proportion too. What about the gun? It worked didn' t it? Seems fine to me.

Nice self-portrait. I' m not so much into street-art but I kinda like this one. Not to crowded, not to many colours,... real nice. Keep it up.

aside from being a bit to anime
You people see anime/manga in everything not completely detailed, don't you? =P

Nice work, both of them.

Love the shoulder/chain part.

Nah, just the pointy smaller pretty-faces with pointy hair. Also the limbs in proportion to the body.

Anyway, good mate. Good looking gun, looks pretty solid or something.

Eh, the first picture does have funny proportioned limbs--I don't try to go for an "anime" style to be honest with you, but there is a bit of holdover from my younger years when I used to be into it. In reality I'm more inspired by English speaking artists than Japanese. (aside from Yoji Shinkawa...if you don't like at least some of his work then you're a fool)

And I suppose the second picture it is a bit of a caricature, though why you think it looks even remotely like anime is beyond me.

Not even anime, more like retro grafitti, paintcan politik. I wish I could get used to this damned Wacom, I know it helps when PAINTing in Maya, maybe I've just drawn too many years with either a pen, or my thumb on a logitech mouse. It just seems so :detached: from my fingers regardless of how I tweak the settings. Nice job.
