To hide bombs, dummy. C'mon, get with the program and FOCUS!
I don't know about the military giving them drugs being as they had a problem with them, I understand they were trying to stop them from getting hold of drugs. You know, using your shotgun as a novelty pipe probably isn't the best idea. Ahh, nothing like the smell of spent gunpowder and bong resin in the morning.

The German Army in WW2 used one of the first developed anabolic steroids (mesterolone me think) not so much to increase strenght but mainly to increase agressivity.Didn't they try and make soldiers more aggressive in vietnam by giving them drugs or is this just a myth?
Historically, the % of soldiers that actually shoot at enemies has decreases along the centuries, not only because there are more and more support troops that dont go into battle, but also because there are more and better ways to kill from far away (airraids, long range artillery etc). On the other hand the percentage of killed troops has not increased much if compared with the number of civilian casualties who are nowadays one of the main targets of most wars.
Or so the man said.
Carpe jugulum.
Hehe sorry thought it was a given.. of course speedball doesn't count. Hell, a lot of people who play speedball wear paintball designer wear like JT Sport and such that have bright colors all over them. Reason being they know they're not going to be able to hide anyway.airsoft guy wrote:You should specify what kind of paintball you need to play, in order to get more of a feeling for war (although it still dosn't compare) you need to play woodsball (kickassball) speedball (doucheball) should be avoided at all costs unless you enjoy looking like an moron. It's quite conusing where the people are shooting from, especially if it's heavy brush.
Yeah, woodsball is what I enjoy the most too.
OTB: Some terrible acting scenes, a lot of the time men are shot 30+ times and are still alive while other times they get shot in the finger and seem to fall over. Hardly any military tactics it seems like, mostly just "RUN FORWARD AND USE YOUR RIFLE!". The story is stupid, has way too much drama. It can't be compared to the average soldier's experiences at all. The whole feel of the movie is hollywood, watch the battle scenes and you'll know what I mean. You'll feel like they just yelled "Action!".

That said, anyone who goes to a Bruckheimer/Bay movie to see the gripping realism and meticulous attention to detail should not set you up with a blind date as she will likely have a penis. Whether it's between her legs or floating in a pickle jar is anybody's guess.
OTB - I disagree. Henry Fonda is going to hell because of his daughter.

I never heard about aggressive. However my cousin did a composition on drugs and their origins for his final year in highschool. And according to him. In Vietnam they did give troops acid. I don't think this was a large initiative, however according to my cousin, who's done all sorts of drugs as well. Acid may cause hallucinations, however it does greatly improve your nighttime vision while you're on it. Not to mention it raises the acuity of your senses in general by a substantial amount. I think that could account in part for the paranoia and hallucinations caused by the drug. However inversely. Some people actually can be come night blind if they take the drug. I guess it's sort of like wearing out your eyeballs or something.Didn't they try and make soldiers more aggressive in vietnam by giving them drugs or is this just a myth?
Well the jungle/woodland brings low and short range visibility which makes combat close. Still 90% of combat is chaos and basicly you point in the enemy direction and fire.Garf wrote:In older battles most soldiers didn't fire their weapons like that. Infact a lot of soldiers in a war claim they've yet to see the enemy even after a day of fighting. WWII had a lot of this, though as time moved on I think by Vietnam it changed a lot and most men did fire their weapons.
Imagine a perfect ambush, you are annihilating your enemy. Then suddenly FN-MAG starts cutting down the trees around you, all you do is crawl back in feutus, foetus, whatever... The state you were before your mommy spat you out on this planet. -- Which is it's combat effective role; to make you unwilling and or uncompliant to fight, wheter you are supressed and don't have a deathwish to stick your head out, or scared shitless.
Then again; it's round's cut through a big ass tree in no time at all, so throwing every sandbag you got against it won't help .
Well paintballs is prolly the most stupid game that exist's. It' has nothing to do with any realism of combat or what so ever... Next to that, you got 2 groups of Civilians shooting at eachother with no training and ability on what do IF there is contact. There is HUGE difference between that and militairy training.Play a game of paintball and you'll see what I mean. A lot of the time you have no idea where shots are coming from and it takes you a bit to find it. Keep in mind this is paintball where the projectiles can be seen in the air and in the direction they're coming from.
Yeah, lewl. Talk about beying retarded and wanting to die.I'll tell you though, my most hated war movie of all time would have to be Wind Talkers. Awful awful movie.
Well like your name says. Except to Militairy counterpart of 'paintball' there is only Airsoft which can be played as a realistic war sim, that is if the 'standard' paintballers don't show up .airsoft guy wrote:You should specify what kind of paintball you need to play, in order to get more of a feeling for war (although it still dosn't compare) you need to play woodsball (kickassball) speedball (doucheball) should be avoided at all costs unless you enjoy looking like an moron. I doubt I'd see a CO or NCO distribute drugs amongst their men, except morfine. It's against what the Army stands for in every way.Burnov wrote:I never heard about aggressive. There are two possible scenarios:Silver wrote:I doubt I'd see a CO or NCO distribute drugs amongst their men, except morfine. It's against what the Army stands for in every way.
- The command is told to distribute certain tablets/etc., but are either not told their true nature, or they are simply not told anything at all.
- The drug arrives in a form that the command is unaware of. It could be given to troops in drinking water, mixed in w/their rations., etc., etc.
Don't look for the truth to come out any time soon, though. Hell, there are still aspects of WWII that are classified and won't be declassified for another decade or more.

wasnt a great film imo, the only good thing was Sam Elliot acting liek a tough guy, as usual, but very well. firefights were well executed, but the actual story didnt have much in it, everyone knows that wars leave unsung heroes on BOTH sides, not just the american side (no offense intended), and i know this was implicated towards the end, by Gibson but not strenously enough to make teh story a good one, which is what it could have been if both sides had been seen equally.
