It has a sound problem with newer versions of Windows. The problem is it doesn't work.

Another good RPG game is Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire, that game got me into RPG's, if it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't have started playing Fallout. I love RPG's it's just that they mostly always follow that damn magic and D&D crap that I can't stand.
I believe he means Westwood's Dune II, the game that started the RTS genre
there was no predecessor
The only game that i can remember of what is called Dune was some low res game from the early 80s and supposed to be an adaptation of the film or something ;)

for the classics:
Jagged Alliance series (1 & 2)

Any SCUMM game is worth playing.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

There was a graphic adventure called Dune made by Cryo in the early 90`s, when Westwood got the rights they changed the game to RTS, and started the RTS craze.

I think the name is Kyrandia or something, I remember it was a great one run game. One of those... adventure style ones similar to day of the tenticle/indiana jones and the atlantis thing.

It has a lot of funny lines in it.

That was Legend of Kyrandia, i think, a small but fun game that had at least one sequel but was unrelated to Dune.

But Alpha Centari's not graphically pretty. Things that aren't pretty are not as pretty as pretty things are. You could probably run some of the side shooting artillery games called WORMS.

Anyone ever play KKND? It's a post-apocalyptic RTS game.

It's kinda goofy but I had a lot of fun with it. Hard as hell sometimes.

They also made a second one, upgraded graphics etc.. but never got around to playing it.

Wow, where can I get hold of that? Looks like fun, is it something I can download somewhere or do they still sell it or do I have to go steal it somewhere?

Here's lots of demos and stuff: http://planet.kknd2.com/downloads/

First (If you want to play them in somewhat of an order) download either "KKND Evolved" or "KKND Survivors" which is down at the bottom. It's the first game and one demo for each side.

If I remember right the sides are the bomb shelter guys with lots of technology (like the BOS) known as the survivors and the other is the mutants who evolved from the radiation and they have like giant scorpions, etc... known as *ta da* the evolved.

The next is KKND Extreme, which came after the first as an expantion.

And finally the last is KKND 2.

Amazon.com should have some copies of it for like 10 bucks. If you can't get ahold of a copy PM me and I might be able to "help".

Very, very, very goooood strategy game: Warzone 2100 (PC).

Really good 3D graphics, fast, ingenious unit designing option, post-apocalyptic.

Best part: $10, found in most bargain bins, but it's definitely worth ordering off of the internet.

Nah, Dune 1 was the first. It was very simplistic, though. All you did was mine spice to ship to the Emperor and build your armies, then send them to fortresses. It was a mixture of RTS and an adventure game.

A great place to download legal old games would be http://free-game-downloads.mosw.com/abandonware/pc/

The only problem is it only lets you download 2 games perday but with a proxy server you can easliy past that.

My suggests are:

Jagged Alliance (Anyone know where I can get the second one from by buying it of course since I'm a good boy and would never warez?)
Warlords 2
Alone in the dark
Heroquest
Cyberdogs 2 (its a freeware game but its something to look out for)
X-com 1, 2 and 3 (you can get Xcom 1 and 2 easy but I think its illegal to download Xcom 3)
Sim Ant
Wing Commander 1
Commander Keen
Battle isle 1 and 2 (I've never tryed the second one)
Beasts & Bumpkins
Ancient Evil (reminds me of fallout)
Maniac Mansion (its kind of like Day of tje Tentacle 0)

Also another good link is http://www.freeoldies.com, afew if not all of the games listed above are on this site.

Or you could try http://www.oldgames-fr.com/index.php

EDITED: I got somemore

Escape. Velocity. Nova.
Try it. A truly awesome little game.

Direct link to Demo DL

Been playing it for over a month now- first game I've actually gone out and bought after playing the demo for quite some time.
Peace,
Darwin.

Has anyone played super methane brothers. It was on the amiga but you can get it on the PC.Its a really hard game.It has 100 levels.I beat them all and got a score of 2623246.If you dont have this game you should download it from

http://www.methane.fsnet.co.uk
Or go to www.download.com and type in super metahne brothers.

If anyone else can beat this score i would be really surprised.I cant improve on that score because i finished all 100 levels, killed every boss and found every chest in the game.
