Home of discussion, generally. If it doesn't go in any of the other forums, post it in here.

Post by Greg »

Well, I haven't posted here in months -- mainly because my computer shat itself and died. I don't know if anyone remembers me, but it's nice to see DAC again.

Anyway, I found a cheap used laptop on ebay. I doubt anything published in the last three to five years will run well on it, but I plan to make good use of college bandwidth by scouring The Underdogs this semester.

What are some good old games to look for?

Starsiege Tribes is great. It's one of the very rare truly outdoor games. Find a good mod, you'll love it.
And of course Fallout 1&2.
KillaKilla's logic:
FOT and FO: BOS weren't FO at all!........... 1. I am nobody
DOGMEAT is God. Never dispute this!........ 2. Nobody is perfect
Up and coming hardware nerd.................. 3. Hence I am perfect

Doom. Go here http://www.doomsdayhq.com/ , then stop by the forums for lots of nice goodies. High res textures, various new models, music, and just about everything to bring the game more up to date.

Good to see you again Greg. I hope the little unpleasantness during the closing days of V13 between us is over. :)

Anyways, Nethack is always a good bet, and this site also has some nice ones.

The original Dune. Alien Trilogy was just added to HOTU, but my connection's too slow to get it. I don't know, there's so much stuff there, just take a gander.

Mech warrior2, if you're into strategic combat. (it's pretty old, so I think it should run)

Few other ones I got (my computer is also severely outdated, btw) you should look for:

Blood
Deja Vu 1 and 2
Fate of Atlantis
The Lurking Horror (if you don't mind text only games)
Dream Zone
Wasteland
The Adventures of Willy Beamish
Tower of Doom (the old D&D arcade game)

I couldn't figure out Dune, I loved Dune II though, that's a great classic RTS. Another good RPG game is Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire, that game got me into RPG's, if it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't have started playing Fallout. I love RPG's it's just that they mostly always follow that damn magic and D&D crap that I can't stand.

Gah, try CivII instead. Not only is it older, it's far superior.
I'll get you, Yoshimi.
