Must be a different worm, because the one that's actively making the rounds simply makes it impossible to boot up your computer.Strapon2 wrote:you just have to follow some procedure to get rid of it, it has some message to bill gates and displays how easy windows (xp?) is to hack into.
not really made to hurt your computer, it doesn't even delete anything.
oh yea, and fire walls save you
(lucky me )
Personally with the millions of dollars lost and complexities added to the common persons life, I hope these people who call themselves hackers realize that what they're doing isn't going to change anything just cause a whole lot of unnecesary problems for ordinary middle-class people just like Bill Gates.

Why'd you say that? I looked at Spazmo's previous post and and that reply really made no sense.

From what I hear, the worm uses some sercurity hole in XP and Millenium window editions. Not sure what it does exactly, but I do know it has a popup saying something about Bill Gates (say it on the news about 2 hours ago, and I've already forgotton it). Ment to active....today
As for the worm being really cool. No. No it isn't. It's stuff like this that gets into importent computer networks and causes problems to people just trying to get on with their lives.

I just got that damn worm... would you believe that it infected my system during the incredibly brief period that i shut down my firewall to accept a file over MSN?? You have no idea how angry that makes me!
But yeah, i dowloaded the appropriate patch and now its gone, gone without a trace

I was being sarcastic, no biggie. The hackers meant to take a shot at Bill Gates with a silly little comment. Which if they don't know he probably just sent a memo to the windows techies to fix it and that was that, after they got a patch out he probably didn't give the worm a second thoought. The programmers at microsoft are the ones who are responsible for pretecting Windows from viruses. The ordinay people, programmers, are the ones that are gonna have to be concerned about this worm not Bill Gates.Evil Natured Robot wrote:C'mon, who doesn't have billions of dollars and a massive semi-underground automated house these days? Are you saying Bill Gates is an ordinary middle-class person?
Yeah, i kept flashing up these messages telling me that my computer would reboot in one minute, then would count down, and yes... reboot.Strapon2 wrote:and it didn't harm your computer in any way, right? it just rebooted a lot?
comes up randomly when you connect to the interent, usiually within 15 minutes. If you have a slow connection it somtimes resets your computer before you have even finnished downloading the fix (as happened to my friend). Quite annoying...
And yes, lets quit all this argument about bill gates. he is a rich fuck and rightly so. leave the bastard alone.
