Yes. It has its problems with game balance here and there, but is definately worth what little money you can buy it for these days. (good RPGS are so rare)

Hell yes! The $20 I spent on the Game of The Year edition was worth it, as I got a game that was worth that alone and a strat guide.

Yes, you should defently buy it.

BB is corret, though. The game has its flaws.
The combat system could do with a bit more balancing.

Still worth a buy for the rich setting and charecter development.

is the strategy guide worth it?

say... they are selling it and the strategy guide for $25, and then just the game for $20. would it be worth the $5?

(note: i am a sucker for strategy guides to good games... i only wish there was one to FO1)

Definitely want to buy it! I would probably consider this game to be somewhere on my list of top 5 favorite games.

I never did get it. But for $16, I might. But then again I have other things to spend my money on right now.

It is tempting though.
I suggest you buy it.

And then come back here and tell me where you bought it. I got mine from a collection of Fallout 2, Baldur's Gate, and Planscape:Torment, abnd while they were so cheap I honestly thought the store had labelled them wrong, I'm not too keen on buying all three again, just so I can get a second copy Torment. There are limits to what I'd do to get my hands on a perfect Christmas present.

I played the demo of Arcanum, which is short, and I kinda liked it, but as soon as it started to get good, the demo was over. The combat system really pissed me off though.

Both have shitty combat, both have a shitty character system. PST is totally linear, and has one of the most cliched and convoluted stories I've ever seen. Arcanum > PS:T.
fuck

PST combat > ARC combat
PST story > ARC story
PST character system > ARC character system

Therefore,
PST > ARC

It's a matter of opinions, Slavey.

PST combat > ARC combat
PST story > ARC story
PST character system > ARC character system

Therefore,
PST > ARC
Using that logic, Diablo 2 is narrowly beaten for the best RPG evar award by Fallout.

Arcanum is also a superior game because, to put it simply, it's not a linear piece of shit. While combat and character system are debatable as to which game did it better, Arcanum has far better gameplay. At the very least, its gameplay amounts to more than an interactive book, and a shitty book at that.
fuck

Arcanum is no more non linear than Planescape Torment. List things and I'll give you something from PST.

Interactive book? The dialogue for example was utter shit. Only one who has done shittier dialogue is 14 degrees with Fallout: Tactics. There were only a few choices, short ones, which also resembled each others a lot and gave the same response.
