Favourite Recruits

Like Tactics? Found a cool mod for another game that reminds you of Fallout? Playing those crappy spin-off console games called "Fallout"? Discuss here.

Favourite Recruits

Post by Nutter »

So which recruits do you guys favour over others?

Your preferred squad composition?
The ever popular Farsight for sniper? Or would you rather have Rebecca as markswoman? Sharon fully voodooed up maybe? Or Mother on psycho?
Stitch, who couldn't hit a barn door at point blank, or Mandy who'd probably cripple you during field surgery?

And preference? Do you like to keep your team as unchanged as possible or do you like to swap recruits and sub them for specific missions?

My Favorites are:
Cracki - my own character
Keith - ahh... Doc Keith! :)
Brian - my heavy weapon guy! ;)
Ice - sniper

So... There are 2 more positions.
Usally I take:
Farsight - second sniper
Betty - repairs my vehicles
But I switch them very often. Sometimes I've to take another heavy weapon guy ... or something else.

My Warlord is the Sniper of Snipers, the Bloody Killer, The Power Fist!!!
And usually so full of stimpacks....

I actually stuck with Farsight and Stitch (because i can costumise them as i preffer) from the beggining and as long as i'm able to recruit Ghouls, i get Babs :D and steal every single thing that can be stolen. :)

I use:

Taylor (my guy, sneaky traps)
Stitch (cause he's customizable, give him tag Energy Weapons later on)
Rage (as a sniper, he gets lots of skill points for high int)
Jax (he came with the kamikaze and fast shot traits, and has all weapon skills tagged. i play on tough guy and expected him to die pretty fast, but he just kept living, so i kept him)

then for the last two slots, i've been switching around between some different folks:
Farsight (as another sniper)
Ice (as yet another sniper)
Harold (as my pilot/repair guy, also tagging energy weapons at 12th lvl)
Torn (because, for some reason, she was available at 1st level and came with Bonus HtH Attacks for free, so she's my meleer)
Riddick (who i picked up at the special encounter, and he's just so damn cool i had to take him)

Has anyone noticed a difference in the recruit pool in Tough Guy? I'm pretty sure they didn't all get traits in the core campaign (maybe its the patch though) and Torn having a level 15 perk at 1st level, for free, was pretty odd. is that normal?

My standard squad is:
  1. Farsight: Sniper
  2. Jax: Assault Specialist (Kamikaze + Fast Shot = nearly cheating)
  3. Brian -> Stein: Assault Specialist -> Assault Specialist/Sniper/Medic
  4. Trevor: Grenadier (Sometimes replaced by Toni the SM.)
  5. Stitch: Non-Combat specialist. (This guy does everything for the squad that doesn't involve shooting, although late in the game I usually give him an FN-FAL, set it to Single and let him plink away since he has a high Science skill. He's crippled more than his share of Bots...)
I like Warbringer's idea. Unfortunately the female recruits in the pool aren't of the right type for me to have the squad that I want, so I never could set up my "Man-Hating Lesbian Squad".

I'm only on mission 8 (harder than hell, I might add), but I like Farsight for sniper. She's a great shot. Stein is also really good with the heavy guns. Ice looks pretty cool, too, but I haven't recruited her yet.

I'm playing tough guy mode which actually is just like playing solo :) most of the mission Farsight and Stitch just sit down and talk at the entrance of the mission waiting for me to get back .

Tough guy rocks, i'm off to mission 09 and i'm already level 17.

I like taking the robot and put the brahimn skin armor on it, I have to say that the main setback would be his perk rate which is non-existant.

I have:

Farsight
Stich
Jo
Kevin
Trevor

I also am trying it solo. AS A ROBOT, then as a deathclaw. Then maybe as a dog.

Alrighty then maybe im on crack or this is a very very very stupid question when you said that you could play as a robot that is only in multiplayer right? or can you make your own character and implement it into the single player missons some how or once again am i on something?

Now back on subject usually by the end of the game i pick up the robot just because he is decent, John as my medic, My guy as the lucky one, Dillon as a sniper, maybe a death claw and i usually switch between guys so i dont have a set party.

You can use the editor to change the race of your starting character and there is also a mod floating around somewhere, I think Stainless has it.

Use the FOT Editor it comes with the 1.27 patch. As for getting the mod I don't know, I just use the editor when I want to use a new prefab character.

the "mod" is basically a collection of prefab files so just using the editor with v1.27 would probably be more hassle free

as for recruits, i like
farsight
babs
alice
mandy
clarise
me

a distinct lack of guys, but it seems all the best characters are girls in this game - plus they can run through small gaps in walls unlike the guys

i have played with a deathclaw (mother), ghouls (babs and harold) and a supermutant (cookie) in the team and am currentlyplaying with a team of *customised* recruits (using the wonderful editor) who are specialised only at one or two things (apart from the medic who's also good at science/mechanics)

so there's me - human (shotgun and SMG type guy)
ghoul (sniper with high PE/LU and very low EN)
super mutant (heavy weapons and grenades, low IN, high ST/EN)
deathclaw (scout, traps, driver =) high AG/ST, low IN, medium PE/EN)
human (medic, science officer and mechanic, high IN, 5-8 everything else)

this way i get to play all the races (not dog!) and use them in very specialised positions - makes the game much more enjoyable than having 6 ubersnipers all with 10PE, gauss rifles and sniper perk =)

Do you plan to feature "Dyke Squad" in one of your custom missions. OTB??

Special armour: Powered lether jackets and brahmin hide Doc Martens

Special melee: Fusion powered strap-on

I can just see them on a mission to save the Quincy Ghoul whores from their sexual oppression at the hands of the phallocentric Beastlords......

You could feature a recruit called Natalie who has a special 'show nipples' attack that causes a -5 penalty for IN and PE in all male NPCs in a 15 hex radius.....
