Work Ethic (or the complete lack thereof)

Post by Max-Violence »

As I sit here, content that the current semester is over and done with, I get to reflect on working a lot more than I did over the semester. That sparked a question: What's my work ethic?

And now I'm curious as to other people. You. Yes, you.

I vote "somewhere between the two."

I work pretty hard at my job. Although after lunch it sorta gets too hot to work where I have to work (factory floor is usually 5 degrees higher then it is outside....roof, where I usually work, is ten degrees higher then the floor), and as days are hitting 36 and stuff, you can imagine it gets quite hot. Using power tools and stuff while I'm up there doesn't help either.

I work hard on pretty much everything and anything. And I stress easily. I take too much responsibility (perfectionist wanker) and burn out quickly. Well, that's how I am :?

It has something to do with working your ass off for years and not spending a dime then deciding to take a 10 year vacation.

I am somewhere in between at least when I was working.

I am going to be getting a job though soon, part-time that is. I am also a student.

I'm surprised that anyone under 25 understands what those two words mean when used together, from the attitudes of most of the kids I've worked with in recent years I thought schools had banned the principal along with competitive sports. Or is it just a problem we have here in the UK?
I'll never forget one kid who had the habit of taking the afternoon off to look after his 'sick granny' but couldn't be bothered to get his 'gran' to phone in one afternoon and just sent the boss an email saying he was taking the afternoon off to go xmas shopping would that be alright? Only he sent the email at 11.55 and went to lunch at 12 and didn't come back until the following day, knowing the boss was in a meeting all morning. Then he wondered why he was being let go and even offered to come back as a temp if they needed him.

Unemployed but hating it, though employers tend not to want to hire suicidal depressives, too much staff turnover.

So, was that a compliment? :D

I also shun those who're 16+ and don't even bother with employment.

Just me on my old geezer soap box, having a rant about the youth of today. :) Starting to turn into a grumpy old man, I hate being out of work, I'm a workaholic by nature. I haven't done any overtime in ages and I don't feel complete .:(
