Alt+Tab switching in FoT while playing

Like Tactics? Found a cool mod for another game that reminds you of Fallout? Playing those crappy spin-off console games called "Fallout"? Discuss here.

Alt+Tab switching in FoT while playing

Post by StarFox »

I need to know how to enable Alt+Tab switching or task switching in any way possible during gameplay. Do you think you can help me out?

Hopefully there must be a way to do this without reinstalling FoT.

I have tried to launch FoT as minimized, but that didn't help, however I might be doing it wrong.

Might it have something to do with the Control Pannel?

There is perhaps an older thread dealing with this problem, do you know how to find it? (My search didn't give me anything.)

This has been answered already, but since you're new, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

To minimise FOT(and this is V1.27), right click on your desktop shortcut of FOT, click on Properties, then in the target box, add -w to the end of it. If you installed FOT into the default directory, then the end result shoud look like this: "C:\Program Files\14 Degrees East\Fallout Tactics\BOS.EXE" -w

Keep in mind that I drew all of this from memory, so something could be wrong. Also note that doing this runs FOT in windowed mode, which enables you to minimise it at will. To run FOT in full-screen mode is more complicated, as you will have to edit you BOS.cfg file, which is located wherever you installed FOT. I have a notepad file which says how to do this, but I don't have it at the moment. I will E-mail it to you if you wish.

Words of Wisdom from MurPHy at the DAC forums

The only way to minimize FOT while it's running is to use windowed mode. To do so:

1) Right-click on the shortcut you use to start Fallout Tactics (Presumably on your Desktop).

2) Click on the "Shortcut" tab.

3) Left-click on "Properties"

4) In the "Target" textbox, you should see "C:\Program Files\14 Degrees East
\Fallout Tactics\XXXXX.exe" If you installed FOT to a different directory, then that
will be shown.

Where I wrote XXXXX.exe, you should have BOS.exe, or FalloutTacticsLauncher.exe.

4) After that's done, simply add the following in the same textbox:

"-w" (without parentheses)

Your final shortcut should look something like this:

"C:\Program Files\14 Degrees East\Fallout Tactics\BOS.exe" -w

Note that if you didn't install the game to the default location (which is what's above),
you'll see something different. The important part is to make sure that you leave a space
between /BOS.exe" and -w (or FalloutTacticsLauncher.exe" -w)

Now, to get back into full-screen mode, open bos.cfg with notepad (it's located in the
core directory of FOT), and the very first line should say: "{display.bpp} = {0}".
If the number is 0, then change it to 1 to get full-screen mode.
Change it back to 0 to get windowed mode (using either the aforementioned method or simply
going into bos.cfg with notepad and changing it there.
