FOT bonus mission?

Like Tactics? Found a cool mod for another game that reminds you of Fallout? Playing those crappy spin-off console games called "Fallout"? Discuss here.

FOT bonus mission?

Post by Senor Deluxe »

Is there a bonus mission for FOT? I remember having heard something about it, but I don´t remember where. If that´s the case, is it possible to download it somewhere?

I'm not sure if this is allowed to be posted here though, so don't be surprised if someone edits my post :)

No need to dl anything, Senor Deluxe. All you have to do is to open the bos.cfg file w/a text-editing program and change the following line from:

{misc.bonusMission} = {false}

To:

{misc.bonusMission} = {true}

Some people have reported that you can have the mission appear as long as you haven't been assigned the Mardin mission yet, but I've always had to start a new game to get it to work. Enjoy, Springfield's a very nice map, although you have to Update the tiles to get rid of some pink tiles that should be invisible.

Just played springfield, thanks everyone!!! One of the better FOT maps, IMO. I wanted to start a new game anyway, so everything was fine.
Thanks again.

Hmm, i thought it was lacking. They obviously spent little time on that mission.

You might be right, Lynxer. However I was refering more to the atmosphere than the gameplay. The map somehow creates a credible and less artifical feel than others, at least I felt so.
And the other maps don´t have huge donut-signs either!

I heard something about a bonus cd that would give you the extra tiles.

You don't, there is a simple way of doing it.

There are three *.bos files you need to unzip. The editor comes with instructions on how to do it but for all those who don't have it, I've dug it out and given it to you, ain't I good to you mortals?

For the editors to work they require some resources to be extracted from the
data files for fallout tactics.

It is recommended you extract the contents of the following files:

tiles_0.bos
entities_0.bos
mis-main_0.bos

The easiest way to extract them is to use WinZip:

1) Launch WinZip
2) Drag-drop the .bos file from explorer into the WinZip window.
3) Type Ctrl+A to select all files
4) Press the extract button on the toolbar
5) A dialog should appear. Make sure use folder names is checked. Make sure
the output directory is the core folder inside your tactics install path.
6) Press extract.

If you repeat this process for each of the .bos files mentioned above, you
should now be able to access the tiles and entities and campaign from the
editors.

A lot of people - myself included - have had problems w/unzipping the tiles when all of them are selected. The way I've found that you can unzip them w/o WinZip locking up is to simply skip step 3. above and hit "Extract". It sounds like it wouldn't work, but it does for some reason. So if you have problems, do that and then have something handy to keep you occupied while nearly 16,000 files are added to your HD.

spyder07: Are you perhaps referring to the Fallout: Warfare PDF files which contain rules and counters for a tabletop wargame? There are no tiles for FoT on the bonus disc, but there is a lot of concept art, etc.

Ain't that the truth  , it took so long I was able to go for a walk to the shops and even start painting some models before it was finished.

WinRAR is okay, but I prefer winZIP simply because I don't have the full version of WinRAR yet.

Interesting. That's why I didn't have a problem when I unzipped the large ones with Rar.

I used winrar to make my zip files containing the superchars. Quick and easy.
