Am I the only one that thinks a Fallout MMO just sounds absolutely terrible?

It could work setting wise, I couldn't seeing it fully implementing SPECIAL, though, so oh well for it trying to remain a traditional PNP styled RPG.

I just meant having millions of 13 year olds slaying deathclaws for loot.

Then let's hope the developers make it so you don't stand a chance against deathclaws at low/mid-low levels which is the average level most 13 year olds reach before they find something else their parents buy them.

Hey, remember Harold? As he spoke of "The Deathclaw"? The awe inspiring rare-as-fuck creature you encountered like ONCE inc. its kids during the entire game? Yeah, the whole Hub, including the Gun Runners, was shitting itself because of it!
Nobody knew what the hell it was. Man or beast?
People used to respect the damn Deathclaw.

"Maybe it's like playing peek-a-boo. The baby covers its face and thinks we can't see it, but we obviously still know it's there."

That's what I think too, its like playing peek-a-boo.

The Deathclaw was bound to break from legend to become a well-known and widespread species because it lived up to the legend. I doubt the species could ever go completely extinct, even if hunted to the brink, because there would always be another cramped cave where more are bred and heavy firepower counts for nothing. With enough traits to guarantee wasteland survival, it doesn't surprise that they enjoyed a population explosion and aggressive territorial expansion.

I wasn't under the impression that the Deathclaw is an actual SPECIES per se when playing Fallout 1 for the first time.
It was more of a quirk of nature. A monster.
Also, there would've been a proto-Deathclaw. Probably much inferior to the "modern" Deathclaw.

In reference to Government/Master's experiments, or natural selection's elimination?

Deathclaws are FEV/radiation blasted iguanas.

There would still be a mutational transmission phase, as FEV is known to be rather unstable. The first ever mutant iguana wouldn't produce Deathclaws as we know em.
It could create various morphs or subspecies or the fuck knows what else. Just thinking... coming back to the topic, I still dislike how generic the Deathclaw has become.
