I have a theory...sort of.

Maybe one of the reasons why we hate FO3 so much is because Todd Howard made promises he didn't intend to keep. Maybe if he had said, "this is not FO 1 or 2, we've decided those games suck and we want to take it in a new retarded blockbuster direction" we would have been less angry about the whole thing. Obviously we'd still be pissed that he ruined a great franchise, but at least he didn't lie or believe that he was really going to make us happy with a mediocre sequel. I guess this all couples with the problem of developers making "inventive" promises that they don't live up to.

I think people just genuinely don't like the game and it has nothing to do with promises. I think the promises part is more of humorous thing that is easy to post about and make Bethesda look stupid. It's also just kind of ruins their reputation on any future games.

I don't think they really flat out broke any promises from what I remember it's just they did everything poorly because they don't have the talent required for it. I think if you were to ask Bethesda they would say that they accomplished all their goals and shit for the game like they always say they do.

We hate it for a variety of reasons; the more clear of which have already been discussed. Also, having someone say something absolutely retarded and doubly insulting wouldn't make us more accepting of his vision, only less.

Take the thinking cap off and replace it with your dunce cap.

I barely knew who Todd Howard was when I first played. To me, the game just started becoming dry. I don't really hate the game.

And didn't Todd Howard promise there'll be like at least 50 endings or something?

Its just not a very good game. Its meh. Has some nice scenery, a few good tunes, a few .. ran out of good things. I think everyone has a mile-long list of things that should have been done different.

Bethesda mass produce games for mass sale. Its a businessmodel that is ruining gaming. End of story.

Where the hell is St Toxic's dishwasher analogy? I pretty much ignored most things to do with Fallout 3 hype and tried to play it on its own merits. It's just nothing special.

lol, i completely forgot about the 200 permutations that they said it would have. Add that on to the 1.2 mile long list of things to improve.

The game makes me laugh at it's stupidity.

I never meant to say it would make us more accepting, but just allow us to write it off that much easier.

For one had played FO1&2, it sucks.
For one had never, it's pretty good.
That's all.
