RPGcodex Member Interviews Herve Caen

Post by POOPERSCOOPER »

[ Person -> Interview ]

Denizsi supposedly interviews Herve Caen through email and it turned into a giant clusterfuck but it has some interesting stuff in it like his Twitter account;

After many e-mails and much waiting and somewhat
nerving exchange of questions and answers, finally here is a short
e-mail interview with much beloved Herve Cain, CEO of Interplay, on
Fallout Online with breaking new information, conducted by yours
truely. Here are some shortened, if somewhat cryptic, bits from the
interview to whet your appetites:

you have confirmed that there will be certain forms of personal

As hard and long as it was to get
answers to my e-mails, the answers were almost as cryptically brief as
it gets. He must have noticed this at some point, since he, thankfully,
supplied me with additional information later on (after I pulled a
polite WTF on him) :

other forms of in-game activities will the player be able to occupy
themselves with? Perhaps you could give a vague example and how much
time an average player can invest in these?

... a party in Venice* for the Hatton-Paquiao* and it last 6 minutes...

*: Venice is the name of a settlement that has been partially flooded and thus came to be called Venice

**: Hatton-Paquiao is the name of a fighting tournament, similar to the
one at Jungle Gym, except each tournament event takes place in a
different area, and players will need to undertake a quest to be able
to learn where and join the tournament. It's also a reference to two
contemporary boxers by the names Hatton and Paquiao.

House owning is in, you'll be able to
form "families" instead of clans with players, and it looks like the
means of personal transportation will have a pretty significant place

you dwell further into the emergent and unscripted nature of quests, as
you called it, and maybe give a brief example (preferably a real

An asshole smashed his car into my 69 Firebird convertible parked in
front of my house at in the morning and ran. What a world...
