Punisher: Warzone
Saw it over the weekend. Definetly the best Punisher movie and I'd even argue comic book movie in regards to sticking to the source material with few exceptions. I was abit skeptical that Ray Stevenson wouldn't do well as Frank as I thought Thomas Jane was ok, but the more I watched the movie, the more he scarily looks like Frank from the MAX run of comics, more so than Jane ever looked like Castle. Jigsaw was ok, I liked him better in the comics, but I thought his brother (Looney Bin Jim) was a better villian. Wayne Knight was the ideal choice for Micro though I hate what they did with his character. Ray Stevenson said he wants to do a sequel, so hopefully it'll be green lit.
Bottom Line: Manliest fucking movie since Rambo and you're all swell guy if you don't like it.

I would have seen it but my whole has been off cause I had to work one friday and I missed a week. I went to see Transporter 3 instead and I don't really think it needs a review.cazsim83 wrote:WHERE THE FUCK IS POOPERSCOOPER!?!?!?
I liked the preview of Punisher where that guy is like "your nothing but a killer" and the punisher tries to be all oscar like and goes "i'm okay with that."

Is it actually good? The action looked a bit too stylish to me in the trailers. The action I like is more like Die Hard, Saving Priv. Ryan. Not a big fan of the Transporter type action, so in the preview when Punisher is seen hanging from chandelier and spinning around it seemed a bit too theatrical.
I love the idea of Punisher though, and if it has raw action of movies like Predator, I'd definitely be interested.

That scene was the only part that detracted from the movie if you ask me. The rest of the movie is of Frank blowing off fat irish people's heads while they take a shit, impaling people on fences, and breaking cocaine addict's skulls in with punches. All in R-rated glory.Dogmeatlives wrote:so in the preview when Punisher is seen hanging from chandelier and spinning around it seemed a bit too theatrical.

Holy shit! I need to see immediately.
That's the Punisher I always dreamed of.
Ok just got back from this, and holy mother of god was it badass!
Pros:
Gory as fuck!
Action is perfect
Ray Stevenson is a perfect Punisher
Lighting is pretty phenomenal
Unintentionally hilarious parts
Cons:
Acting is utter shit
Casting is utter shit
Dialogue is utter shit
Storyline is ridonculous!
I really enjoyed it though. I give it 3.5/5 only because a better script was sorely needed.

I dunno. I thought afew of the castings were good choices. Soap looks like his comic persona. Wayne Knight was my ideal choice for Microchip and I actually liked Looney Bin Jim and thought his actor was a good choice. As said - Ray Stevenson looks REMARKABLY like the Punisher and out of the 3 punishers thus far, does the best at acting like one. I just wish that Jigsaw was abit more vicious. Rumor has it that the next villian is Barracuda, which is awesome.Dogmeatlives wrote:Casting is utter shit
While the storyline is fairly ridiculous for normal action movie standards, it very much feels like something from the comics, so I guess that's why I approved of it. The only thing I didn't like about the storyline was the sense of time it carried.

finally got around to watching it - it 'felt right', i.e. - not a lot of humor, plenty of gore and half missing heads and heads being blown off - but unlike the last Punisher movie nobody really kicked the Punisher's ass at any point.
It really lacked a decent villain...I mean *really* lacked a decent villain.
It's no Batman Begins or Dark Knight or hell even Iron Man for that matter, but its definitely better than SUperman REturns.

WTF? I saw Warzone-- DML called it, shitty acting but great action. Seriously though, it doesn't touch The Dark Knight. I don't think a superhero movie thus far ever has. Watchmen might end up being spectacular, but... that remains unknown thus far.
Caz is right, too-- Castle got knocked around a couple times, but he didn't ever find himself in an "unwinnable" battle. Who knows; maybe Barracuda will trash him, bring out the M60 for some lulz.
Can't wait for Cap's movie and the Avengers

When Moore has his name removed from the credits, doubt should instantly spring to mind.Manoil wrote:Watchmen might end up being spectacular, but... that remains unknown thus far.
