Help with patching Fallout 2

Hi everybody!

I made the worst mistake ever... I started playing fallout 2 without any patches installed. So now I'm screwed because whenever I enter Gecko some ghouls try to kill me.

Anyway, I downloaded the save game converter after patching the game (from 1.01 to 1.02 or so) to see if I can get past this issue but my original game and save game data is 1.01, as I already said. When I try to convert it to 1.02 or a more recent version it says that the program doesn't know how to handle the file, since it was desinged to convert 1.00 files, not 1.01.

So my question is: Am I doomed and forced to start all over again or is there another way around? Please let it be a yes.

Let's put it this way: if you get it to work after patching, it's a miracle.

Besides the official patch, consider downloading the fan-made restoration project. It adds a lot of new content, good shit.
