[ Film & TV -> Preview ] - More info on Film & TV: 2012

A movie trailer from the upcoming apocalyptic film 2012 has been recently released. It's directed by Roland Emmerich (The Day After Tomorrow, Independence Day, The Patriot) and the cast includes John Cusack, Thandie Newton, Woody Harrelson and Danny Glover.

Plot: "With the Mayan calendar ending in 2012, a large group of people must deal with natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions, typhoons and glaciers." (IMDb)

The trailer can be found here.

Why, isn't this epic. Emmerich's portfolio is not exactly trust inspiring, but this big-budget flick is apocalyptic so I'll keep an eye on it.

Emmerich was behind 10 000 BC as well. Sort of a fun alternative(?) history setting. His movies are rather enjoyable and well made with their big budgets. Nothing special, far from :kubrick: but entertaining still.

I like how in 10,000 B.C. the darkies have to wait for the magical white people to lead them to victory.

I fixed your post.

This guy produces nothing but lame-ass crap with so many plotholes that it makes Fallout 3's main quest look coherent.

Ugh....disaster movies....never a good thing. They always have a unique premise to set off the disaster, but draw from the same pool of scenes, stories, characters , and ideas that every other one does after that.

Die with the world as it ended?

A better rephrase of the same question would be: What would you do if you KNEW the world would end in '12?

10,000 was pretty horrible and I even gave it a bad review when it came out.

Despite that he made Independence Day which I thought was good even though it wasn't high class stuff. I would also vote for that president in a heart beat.

I would normally write this off as being dumb but it has John Cusack in it so I guess it can't be that bad.

He's the ass that made Independence Day?

The part with the geekfreaks in the underground base was funny.
And I wanna bang that chick.

Aside from that ID4 was crap.

I don't feel like reading this - is it really an UBER-spoiler or a hoax? Also they've got a picture from a different flick tard

Not sure if it's true or not, but if it is, it's pretty lame.

I actually have a friend who believes that the world ends in 2012. And I made a wager with him, too: If the world faces unquestionable annihalation anywhere from January 1st, 2012 to December 31st, 2012, he wins. If it doesn't, I win.

100 bucks.
If I'm right, I get 100 bucks for no apparent reason.
If he's right... what the fuck would you use 100 bucks for?

I think you guys are forgetting one thing. This asshole made the 98 Godzilla flick. That movie is so bad that I think I'm still suffering nam-esque flashbacks from it. I'm automatically gonna put this one in the shit section unless Pooper rates it to be otherwise.
