S.T.A.L.K.E.R. interview at ActionRealm

Post by Saint_Proverbius »

[ -> N/A]

Some may be interested, some not, but ActionRealm has a second interview with Alexei Sytyanov of GCS Games about their upcoming post nuclear disaster game, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Oblivion Lost. Here's a clip of the discussion:

What are some special features about the game and how will they be used?

First off, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will have a very special atmosphere. To give you an idea of it, imagine Ghost Busters in Chenrnobyl, add "Stalker" movie by Andrey Tarkovsky, "The Roadside Picnic" book by Strugatsky brothers, intelligent mutant creatures, anomalies, stalkers. As you may probably know, we went to the very Chernobyl a while ago, and we are up to bringing its murky atmosphere of post-Soviet reality into the game. The main game features are as follows:

-20 square kilometers of the Zone, outdoor areas
-original creatures and their abilities: group intellect, telepathy, telekinesis
-unique types of weapons
-strong non-linear plot with several endings
-realistic communication with any sapient character
-exploring anomalous zones by means of special equipment
-many types of weapons
-trade
-two-hand fire
-strong character intellect
-changing world of the Zone
-control of vehicles and robots.

For those who haven't heard of the game, here's what the publisher page says about it:

It is now for the second time that the black Chernobyl erupted to open a Zone - a new horror of ill mankind. It was at that moment that hundreds of people turned into wordless toys of invisible forces, into insane toys with erased personalities. And there were futile attempts of the army to cope with the new disease of the planet, at least to prevent its development and spread, but to no avail. The Zone grew bigger. Only rarely people dared to set off for the Zone to find out, to procure evidence of weird and uncanny changes around Chernobyl Atomic Plant. Only a handful returned, bringing strange objects and stories of deadly traps and eerie animal mutants, they found out of somebody inside controlling the evolution of humanity, forcing it to leap towards unknown final. They became stalkers, those who leave for the changing world of the Zone to explore it and find artefacts, those who cross the Zone of immense territory covered with ulcers of black lakes, scorched earth, poisonous fogs, deadly anomalous zones, populated by sapient pseudo-animal mutants...

This was spotted over at Shack News.

Sounds almost like a Russian version of Parasite Eve.

While not being a post-apocalyptic game, it has a post apocalyptic zone which is nice.
if this game is TB it just might be really good.

Umm... It's FPS with some RPG elements.

Yup, it's a tactical shooter, only one with actual ELEMENTS to the game other than "Go kill the mutants!"
