[ Game -> Update ] - More info on Game: Fallout 3
Fallout 3 has apparently been effectively banned in Australia: Fallout 3 has just very recently gone through the initial review
process by the board of the OFLC and has been refused classification.
Apparently the game includes the use of Morphine by your character. By
all accounts this did not sit well with the Board as the portrayal of
the unregulated use of proscribed substances is a bit of a no no and
will damage the fragile minds of Australia's game-playing populace.
Can't be good for DU I guess. Edit: Remember, this hasn't been confirmed yet, but you can read more about it here at Kotaku.

:decline of the western culture:
Maybe Australia doesn't allow shitty games, anymore? BUT WHERE DOES IT END? |

What was it that Yahtzee said...
"If america and the british do it, we might as well jump on the bandwagon."
I didn't know it meant taking it further... |

I guess Stainless is either fucked or will be spared Oblivion w/Guns.
It all depends on how you look at it.

Now - A time where you can order EVERYTHING over the internet without prolems.
But as I said again, I am not really disappointed. It's not like Fallout 3 will be any good anyway. You can spraypaint poo in gold but once you kick it it'll turn out to be shit. Who saw that coming. Ehue. |

Lucky bastards.
They'll probably make a censored version for the aussie market, but if not, woe is ecks-bocks kiddies who don't have access to a credit card. |

Well think a bit further. Will morphine replace stimpacks in Fallout 3? Also, why aren't all games showing ambulances banned in Australia? I mean every ambulance on this planet carries some dose of morphine. Therefore it's like T3H UBERDRUGABUSE!!!111uno |

You know, in the OLD DAYS, they would've just released a local version of the game with the word "morphine" replaced by "healing cocktail of chemicals" or something... |

so I guess all the other illegal drugs featured in Fallout were okay since they weren't 'real'?
Just call it ... hell ... whatever else. Make up some stupid name for it like
Jet or Buffout or ??? |

It's probably the same price or cheaper to just order from overseas and have it shipped to AU. Morphine in a form of healing in a game seems okay to me but I assume that it just being said in the game is a no-no. I wonder if they will do what aptyp just said. |

Alas, the rampant stupidity will escape their Righteous Scalpel of Decency and it remains unlikely that anything will spare us the disappointment and vexation of seeing it upon the shelves. |

So you actually support the government deciding what's too bad for you?
I'm surprised Blargh, I would've figured you could handle yourself. |

Not at all. While I deplore censorship, either branch of the fate of Fallout 3 will leave the fires of indignation cold as it stands well back from the allotment of figs. Once again you declare meaning not your own, perhaps for want of meaning you can see ? |

Well you did say it'd spare you, as if you wouldn't have a choice in the matter otherwise. |

Why can't Blargh just speak plain English instead of driving around the house in a little car? |
