Installed it yesterday, good fun.

I chose the vanguard, I think.. arms/psyche path.

What can you do with the engineering path/abilities?

overload/sabotage are pretty over-powered. you can either fuck with their shields completely or over heat weapons and get them locked out for a while. both work pretty well and will get you through the game fairly easily.
The answer to your first question is shaddup.

Basically the engineer is precision designed to RAPE GETH. You destroy their shields and then you stop their guns from working, then just in case they might not have already been proper fucked you can hack them and turn them on one another, oh and you can only use pistols, but pistols are specially designed to rape once you get the special spectre one and put 2 extended rails on it.

I wish I'd taken that path. So far Biotech or whatever they call it, doesn't open up a lot of options.
I was hoping for some more dialogue options, like combined with intimidate that you could hang someone over an edge or the like..

I don't think your class affects dialogue options, perhaps maybe once or twice but I don't remember any.

Your class doesn't, but your Renegade and Paragon points can, even though they can get you the same results.

I like to play as an Infiltrator with the Assault Rifle talent added, 'cause that way you not only get some of the benefits of the Engineer, but also combat bonuses of the soldier.

AFAIK only your paragon/renegade status influences dialogue options, as these scores go up you get more slots open for intimidate and charm to put points into.

the differences in paragon/renegade aren't that big. the words you say are highlighted in red and then you end up fighting the foozle anyways. the biotic skill tree isn't too bad... singularity + lift will clear out pretty much everything. all of the spectre class weapons turn the game into easy mode.

I noticed some engineering options on the ice-planet, first base, and not as much dialogue, but still it's a different approach... to something :S

Should've said that as well.

Maybe I can throw some stuff around to make a difference later.

wont be too dissapointed if I can't, it seems like a nice game to me. I feel content, for once, in a long time.

It is quite good, but it is rather linear, your choices during the game don't really seem to make such a big difference. Even if you always take the renegade dialogue option you are still a good guy considering you are saving the galaxy.

You don't have to be evil just because you cut corners and wont take bullshit answers.

I see Renegade as the cowboy diplomacy way, and paragon as the goody two-shoes one, reserved for the suits on citadel.

I'll be damned if I ever turn over my weapons to some dyke just 'cause that's how they do things there.

So the only role-playing element is the way your character talks? :?

Every time new bioware game comes out it has less role playing and more of dumbing down.

Well, engineering definately opens some options for you.

I keep getting blocked because I don't have it...
God damn biotech is worthless.

Another example of dumbing down is the highlighting of dialogue options(charm/intimidate). That pissed me off in Bloodlines, as well. There's also no 'traps' in dialogue so you might as well just click through all dialogue lines without reading them and occasionally click a colored line for desired effect. All else is just yadayada. Gone are the days of PS:T, BG and Fallout when you actually had to think beforehand what you'll say. Gone are the days when you actually had to TAKE FUCKING NOTES when playing a CRPG.

Only dumb fucking kiddies couldn't play CRPGs, because they were too stupid to follow clues. The same dumb fucking kiddies make computer RPGs nowadays.

Which reminds me of Lynette from Vault City....
Much time have I spent angering her, because her responses seem totally random.

On an off note I bought World in Conflict, and its pretty damn fun. I'm about half-way through the campaign and my multiplayer name is Saratoga, if anyone is interested in playing.
