RPGDot looks at the SPECIAL system

Post by Kreegle »

[ -> N/A]

A whole new generation of fantasy-inclined RPG'ers (I know you love 'em) have no idea what the SPECIAL system in Fallout is - if there's no magic, they aren't interested. Silly gits. But now that Lionheart is on the way, it means some of those close-minded fools will finally be able to see just how good SPECIAL is... which is why RPGdot have whipped up a bit of an introduction to it.

Installment 1: Races, takes a bit of a look at - funnily enough - the different races in Lionheart, along with explaining the whole Strength, Perception, Intelligence thing. For instance, there's a bit of a run-down on what characters like the Pure Bloods are all about:
Those referred to as the Pureblood come from the untainted bloodline of humans. They and their ancestors remain untouched by the Disjunction or the spirits it released upon Earth. They have average attributes and make up the majority of Europe's population. Purebloods tend to control most of the continent and it's politics.
Advantages: Purebloods suffer no faction problems and typically can excel at anything they wish. They begin the game with 3 Tag Skills, more than any other race.

Disadvantages: Purebloods receive no Racial Traits and have slightly lower starting abilities than the other races.
Dandy. You can read the entire article here... and also check out two new portraits. Cheers Jack_Deth!

Am I the only one who thinks races are a substitute for classes in this game?

Nope, that's exactly how I see'm anyhow.

They'll probably accidently call one of the skills a "feat" at some point too... :roll:
