Fallout Bible #7 has been released

Post by Kreegle »

<strong>[ -> N/A]</strong>

The next edition of the controversial Fallout Bible is out! The news on <a href="http://www.blackisle.com/" target="_blank">Black Isle</a> describes it this way:<blockquote><em>More fun from the world of Fallout, commemorating the seventh fabulous update with the seven deadly secrets of Fallout, including the original concept art for deathclaws, Dogmeat's first name, the mysterious Fallout-area-that-never-was: the Burrows, the name of the man responsible for that exploding head animation you can call up in the Credits movie in Fallout 1, and more! So click on the link below, pull up a chair by the fire, sip your tea, and enjoy. </em></blockquote>That link they're talking about is <a href="http://feedback.blackisle.com/downloads ... .zip">this one here</a>, I do believe. Cheers Jack_Deth!<br><br><b>Edit by Saint_Proverbius</b><br><br>You just gotta love the <a href="http://feedback.blackisle.com/downloads ... p">Fallout Bible</a>. Here's a clip from it:<br><br><blockquote><i>First off, deathclaws pay homage to the "shadowclaws" in Wasteland. They lurk in the mines near the Ranger Base. They are very tough and scary and can make you wet your pants.</i></blockquote><br><br>Keep in mind that the <i>Shadowclaws</i> in <b>Wasteland</b> were <i><u>LIZARDS</u></i>! As opposed to this concept art that <b>MCA</b> dug up from early in <a href="Http://interplay.com/fallout/">Fallout</a>'s development:<br><br><div align="center"><img src="http://duckandcover.net/proverbius/origsheepclaw.jpg" height="163" width="157"></div><br><br>Looks like a standard werewolf to me! So, <b>MCA</b> goes on to say the Deathclaw seen in <a href="http://interplay.com/fallout/">Fallout</a> was taken from 2nd Edition AD&D.<blockquote><br><br><i>So take your deathclaws with hair or take them from the worlds of Dungeons and Dragons. It makes no

difference - their origins are what they are.</i></blockquote><br><br>Neat, huh? Nothing like propaganda. After all, there's no <b>werewolves</b> in AD&D, are there?<br><br>If you want to look at what the <b>Shadowclaw</b> from <b>Wasteland</b> looked like, check out <a href="http://www.caveoftrouble.com/bear/waste ... .php">this page</a> from the <a href="http://www.caveoftrouble.com/bear/waste ... php">image archive</a> at <A href="http://www.caveoftrouble.com/bear/wasteland.php">The Desert Ranger Outpost</a>. Notice that it looks a lot like a <b>Deathclaw</b> from <a href="http://interplay.com/fallout/">Fallout</a>, only with shorter limbs and shorter horns.

Hmm, I don't think it looks like a Fallout deathclaw at all. Shorter limbs, shorter horns... aw come one, it's a small lizard compared to a deathclaw.

That concept art pic sure gives me the creeps, what if FoT team simply followed the original Fallout design documents... who knows? :wink:

That pic doesn't even have any horns.

That really looks a lot like a werewolf, hang on I'll check. *Grabs Werewolf rulebook and looks for some artwork then compares it.* Almost a match. Hm, werewolves in FO3? Nice thought actaully. I'd like to see it happen :D

I'm guessing that the D&D monster it's based off is a Giant Horned Chameleon.

You see, now you've just gone and ruined my whole Deatchlaw experience.

"You're not that scary! You're just a Giant Horned Chameleon! SUCK MINIGUN!!"

It just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Well, for those who don't know, the monster is the tarrasque, one of the biggest badasses in the game of D&D. Once you look at the picture of the tarrasque from the 2nd ed. AD&D Monstrous Manual, it's painfully obvious. However, the tarrasque is a lot bigger than a deathclaw (several stories taller), so I guess they scaled it down or something.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

Yup, they took a model of one of those from another game and altered it for use in Fallout. They thing is, they altered it to look more lizardish and more like the Shadow claw, including the color scheme, the spikes on the back, the symmetry of the "clawed hands", and so on.

And saying the werewolf looking design was better because it was first is rather silly, don't you think? This is especially the case when you're trying to add validity to Micro Forte's Sheepclaw which looks nothing like either.
