Vic with low Intelligence character

Im just on my second playthrough of fallout 2 with a stupid character. I just wiped out the slavers in the den and released vic and the other prisoners. But you have an option to be Vics "Friend" And get him to follow you. However, this doesnt work. Is there a patch or anything to fix this?

Awsome now invent a mod where you can fuck the guy with the heart condition until he dies then you and bethesda slap a label signed fallout 3 on him and rape it until you computer overheats and dies
