I liked the chicken bashing. The whole running around senselessly in the dungeon till you find the fuckin key was annoying, though

Zelda always did get old, even when they tried something new. Thing is dungeon after dungeon, game after game, it's all the same shit. Fun for awhile , sure, but invariably after about 15 or 20 hours I lose interest completely.

True, but it was better than the repetetive dungeons in oblivion/morrowind.

I got killed by a skree when I first tried Morrowind. I walked out of some little shit town that had no important NPCs (that I could find at least... all the folks I clicked game the same wiki options) and that pterodactyl thing attacked me. In FPP I was pretty much just swinging wildly as the thing would peck at my eyes, take off, peck some more, take off. Pretty genius design. I put the Morrowind disc in the microwave after that. Pop. pop. pop.

I didn't enjoy the game until I downloaded the "Cliff Racer Extinction" mod. And no, I'm not saying that's excusable on Bethesda's part. My comment had less to do with Morrowind's quality and more with whether or not a first-person perspective necessarily makes a game an FPS. I think if Morrowind or even System Shock fit into this definition, they at least stretch it. And I think it's conceivable that a first-person game involving firearms could exist and not be considered a "shooter."

Just make the guns work like in a sim.

That way twitching only lasts a few seconds.
Then reload.

It is. Games like Wizardry exist in a first person field and I DEFINETLY wouldn't consider them FPS'. Course, I'd almost consider them boredom simulators most of the time, but they're rpgs that are in first person. If a game with guns did something similar and tried to make it.....better, then that'd be....Wizardry with Guns, but it'd be an rpg atleast.
