1Up Previews Fallout 3

[ Game -> Preview ] - More info on Game: Fallout 3

1Up has posted their preview of Fallout 3. Highlights:

More confirmation of a viewpoint similar to the original games:

And there are similarities to Bethesda's most recent blockbuster as
well -- largely because Fallout 3 uses an evolved version of the
Oblivion engine. You'll recognize the first-person view, the "radiant
A.I.," and the move-anything physics system...but the engine appears to
have been significantly overhauled in several key areas. Take the
viewpoint for example: Like in Oblivion, you can switch from first- to
third-person view; but unlike Oblivion, the third-person view appears
to be a viable option for actually, you know, playing the game, with an
<a href="http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId= ... -style
over-the-shoulder cam that's fully customizable, even allowing you to
play in an overhead perspective similar to the original games.

Minor details:

There will be no Brotherhood of Steel-style heavy-metal soundtrack.
There will be no bizarrely out-of-place pop-culture reference as in
Fallout 2.

Those "out of place pop culture" references were fun, I have to admit, even if they detracted from the setting. I wouldn't mind seeing some small things in Fallout 3.

Read the whole thing here.
