<strong>[ Game -> Article ]</strong> - More info on <a href="#Killa">Game: Killa</a>

<p>You might have seen this in a few threads on the forums, but I thought I'd post it up. Here's Killa - The Game, made by DAC member <strong>Winston Henry</strong>.</p><blockquote><p><em>
I'd like to present you a small RPG game written in Visual Basic 6. I'm the only one who worked on it, so don't expect, I don't know,
Fallout for example. I started to make the game 7 years ago, soon
after I finished Fallout 2 many times. I wanted to feel the taste of
making and designing my own game. So, here it is! I finally
released it in public. I hope you'll have fun, for this is what the
game is made for. For fun. Enjoy!

The purpose of the game is to find that evil boss and put an
end to him. After you enter your name and set your primary
skills, you'll find yourself on a map that looks from bird's
perspective. You are represented by a small red plus sign in
upper left corner. Now, the boss should be found and dealt
with. Click with a mouse somewhere on the map and you'll get
goin' to that destination. But the boss isn't the only one on
the whole map! While you are searching for him, you'll
encounter different kinds of enemies and outlaws. The weakest
one of them is, definitely, the bandit. He is moving near
you, about upper left corner of the map in a radius of about
3,5 cm or 1,4 inches. He'll probably be the first one you'll
encounter. Further more, the enemy is getting stronger and
tougher as you move diagonally on the map, that is, as you
venture towards the lower right corner of the map along map's
diagonal. Outside that map's diagonal are various "special"
enemies that are MUCH stronger than these "ordinary" enemies
on the map's diagonal. So now don't even dare to wander
"outside map's diagonal" <img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx../../forums/ ... n_razz.gif" alt="icon_razz" />!

The game is, by the way, saved automatically before every
combat and before entering each city.

Regarding the detailed description of character creation at
the game begining, that is, setting the primary skills'
values (strength, endurance...), everything is described in
detail in the very game. Consult the descriptions in the
game regarding that. I won't describe that here.

The game is played with music, by the way. Start Winamp (or
whatever) and enjoy! But if the silence offers you greater
enjoyment, do whatever makes you happy, of course <img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx../../forums/ ... /smile.gif" alt="smile" />).

There are 20 different weapons, many different armors and
several other items, and there are over 15 different enemies in
the game. There is also "Best killas" list system which records high
scores that vary from being "the healthiest", "the fastest" (in
completing the game), "the richest" and so on... That's specially
made for all of you who like to compete. An entry has already
been added to the "Best killas" list for you to have a point of
comparison of how well did you do when you have completed the game.
There are cheats, also <img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx../../forums/ ... n_razz.gif" alt="icon_razz" />. You can get them if you can make every main menu item red!
Here are also some screenshots for your viewing pleasure (ignore the graphics <img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx../../forums/ ... rhappy.gif" alt="icon_mrhappy" />)</em>
</p><p><em> <a target="_self" href="http://www.duckandcover.cx/gallery/disp ... 1894"><img width="85" height="100" border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx/gallery/albu ... er2au6.jpg" /></a></em></p><p><em>
That's the complex starting character creation window.</em></p><p><em> <a target="_self" href="http://www.duckandcover.cx/gallery/disp ... 1893"><img width="107" height="100" border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx/gallery/albu ... it2ng7.jpg" /></a></em></p><p><em>
That's the combat window with you (yes, you're the one on the right <img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx../../forums/ ... rhappy.gif" alt="icon_mrhappy" />) currently battling a bandit.
</em></p><p><em> <a target="_self" href="http://www.duckandcover.cx/gallery/disp ... 1892"><img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx/gallery/albu ... ns2lx0.jpg" /></a></em></p><em>
And that last one was one of the cities. Pretty cool, huh <img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx../../forums/ ... n_razz.gif" alt="icon_razz" />?
</em>

<em>
So, that's about it.
</em>

<em>
And the link to download, get and play the game is here ==> <a href="http://rapidshare.com/files/40156185/Killa.zip.html" target="_blank">http://rapidshare.com/files/40308058/Killa.zip.html</a>

<em>
Enjoy!</em></blockquote><p>

The Bethy gonna come and squash this competition. I wish Winston luck!

VB6 FTW.
I miss the good ol' USSA.

Easily one of the best games I have ever played and a stunning example of the innovation only an independent game developer can bring to the table.
