[ -> Interview]
I got a chance to send some questions to Sean K Reynolds, former lead story designer for Van Buren, here's what he had to say.

Very interesting interview. He did seem a to be a tad touchy though. Thanks to everyone involved! |

His explanation for the high-tech nature of the game annoyed me... he kept explaining how there would be high-technology in any future setting, but he seemed to miss the part about the BOMB, the great "reset button" of civilization. Without active governments, no technology could be developed. People would have been too busy just trying to stay alive, they wouldn't have time to conduct research and science. |

Well, everybody's life in Fallout still revolves around tech to some extent (with the exception of total primitives like tribals). But the main emphasis of the game is the unbalanced distribution of technology, and how it means everything (tech is the new money). |

I thought it was about the topple of man from his king seat as leader of the animal kingdom. |

I'd say Atoga's got it more right. Expanding on his idea though, I say everyone's life in Fallout revolves around knowledge. Knowledge to make the better gun, the stronger armor. Knowledge to keep yourself and your community alive. Knowledge to kill someone quicker and so on.
And like atoga's theory, it still brings humanity full circle between post-war and pre-war. Like the Cold War, I'd say life in Fallout would be a perpetual arms race. Instead of a global scale though, it's regional. |

I would say the ideas based from the interview have merrot, and atoga did have the right idea look at Fallout One the ppl feared the BOS as a tech advanced secret society and in Fallout 2 it was the Enclave technology is still around but so rare that if makes anyone having it not only dangerous but also a target hence the growing conflict of Vault City vs NCR and Gecko or BOS vs Enclave and i think to much technology or making it to scarce will alter the game greatly from what us Fallout fans love so much |
