To edit that kind of stuff, you usually use a grphical program such as photoshop.
My editor is not to edit images, but to edit how the tiles are setup (and thus make new ones).
What you could do is take a snapshot of a tile, edit it ni photoshop, save it as a png - making sure the alpha's are set correctly. Convert it to ZAR with the Fo:T editor, and finally import it in the ZAR clipboard after loading said ZAR, making a new tile and exporting the clipped ZAR into the tile.

The full version of Photoshop is ideal to use - I use an older version of 5.0. Paint Shop Pro may do the job, right MV? I wouldn't try using anything more primitive - you are just going to get extremely frustrated. If you have a specific request that is not too complex, ask and someone may be willing to do it for you.

Yeah, though paint shop pro should also be adequate.
I don't remember wether lview pro supports alpha properly, but if it does, it's another "easyer to attain" alternative, as both these software have complete demo versions (where in photoshop you can't save...)
JJ, notice how almost no-one knows about alpha? It's a real simple concept, but it's one of the reasons I didnt' want to impliment any editing capabilities. The average joe doens't know about this stuff.

That's a photoshop job...
However you want people to be able to go through your door right (or shoot thorugh it).
I such a scenario you'll need 2 tiles.
In both cases though I beleive you'll need photoshop to "cut" the other half. I need to make a PNG extractor, as otherwise you simply can't keep the alpha data (or some other format photoshop takes).

Here is a freeware graphics prog I have just run across:
http://www.gimp.org/the_gimp_about.html
I think all of you Photoshop challenged souls may want to look into it. It seems like it has the necessary ingredients but may require new methods of achieving those results of which I may not be able to help. It is primarily for Unix systems but has a Windows port.
