dunno, Ive found a place called gecko:
http://www.fallingrain.com/world/US/22/Gecko.html
but it isnt located there in the game I think...
Broken hills (historical, whatever that means)
http://www.fallingrain.com/world/US/32/ ... rical.html

Nevertheless, I thought them locations withing locations (such as the wanamingo mine) were made up.

Well, umm... Klamath Falls, Redding and Reno ring any bells? D: I didn't know about the Wanamingo mine either, kinda cool, maybe the SILVER ALIENS are based on real-life counterparts as well?

The rig isn't really a part of the "Fallout world" as I would understand it, more like "the final stage". It's a pretext to fight Frank and to give you the briefing on the president and chit.

But most of the cities are based on real life ones. Even the military base from FO1 and the enclave base from FO2 were, I think, located where real bases are?

Yeah, most, not all. The wanamingo mine was a bit of a surprise to me.

Shady Sands, Modoc, NCR an probably a few other locations aren't based on any real locations as far as I know.

I think LA Boneyard is about the only location in Fallout 1 based on real locations. All in all, the Fallout2 devs went kind of crazy with all this real-life-ing, real life weapons, etc.... :chew:

They seem to be based on locations but not in the exact ones.
What slackers interplay where ( still are ;) ).

San Francisco even imported a bunch of real live chinks in honor of Fallout. :salute:
