<p>Ray Mauer, the man, the myth, the legend, has passed away at the age of 89.</p><blockquote><p><em>Raymond J. Mauer, who wrote the script for the landmark civil defense
film, ''Duck and Cover," died Wednesday at Bridgeport Hospital after a
long illness. He was 89.</em></p><p><em>Millions of schoolchildren in the 1950s saw the film.</em></p><p><em>In the case of an atomic attack, children were advised to duck beneath a table or desk and cover their heads.</em></p><p><em>Mr.
Mauer, a Stratford resident, wrote the script for the film during a
brief foray into the film production business with Archer Productions

Incidentally I bought the Atomic Cafe DVD a month ago with a snippet of the aforementioned film in it.

Eh, I had never heard about this guy D: I doubt a lot of people considered the guy as a "legend"? What did he do apart from that movie?

The movie is actually pretty fun to watch.
