Time to upgrade...

Post by King of Creation »

[ Game -> Article ] - More info on Company: Bethesda Softworks | More info on Game: Fallout 3

The final system specs for Bethesda's Elder Scrolls: Oblivion have been revealed. You're gonna need a beast to play the recommended settings:

3 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor

1 GB System RAM

ATI X800 series, Nvidia GeForce 6800 series, or higher video card

If this is any indication of what's in store for Fallout 3, I'd say it's time to start saving money for an upgrade.

My machine is a 3.2, 1 gig of RAM, and a Nvidia 6600GT, so it should be somewhat ok on my machine?...

bummer!

I need a faster machine!

So approximately 10% of PC gamers are capable of running that piece of shit when it comes out? I predict blockbuster sales.

This severely limits my bitching possibilities to something like 'LOL, judging from the screenshots, real-time combat is crap!'.

That's not really a beast, more like lower end to midclass machine.

I can run that i think. At least i beat minimum limit by far. Not that i plan on getting Oblivion cause i still cant get over what a waste of money Morowind was. But i am glad i will be able to run f3 thoe.

Allthoe they can advance graphics in same engine by using tons more polygons and much higher quality textures and make it double System Requirements by the time f3 is released even if its on same engine.

We won't see anyone playing this with a laptop until a few years...

The specs don't look so bad. My rig's over 14 months old and it (almost) reaches the recommended setting.

There are some pretty powerful laptops out there, but I suppose that they're also quite expensive.

I don't even post there so I probably shouldn't complain, but there are way the FUCK too many goddamn Oblivion posts at the RPGCodex board. Here's a list of topics from the last couple days relating to this pile of shit:

Oblivion: The Gathering
The Unofficial Oblivion Teaser Video
Straight from the horse's mouth
OblivionPC Collectors Edition - where can you buy it online?
Oblibion: The Comic
Best thread ever.
Only one tree in Oblivion
Will My Computer Run Oblivion?
Sorry for another Oblivion thread.
What is your Oblivion character's Myer-Briggs type?
Oblivion shadows: before and after
Bethesda: Microsoft's Puppets
Morrowind and open endness..
New Oblivion Movie
Old but unseen (?) video footage from OB
Oblivion "Making Of" featurette on Game Trailers.
OBLIVION GERMAN VIDEO!!!
Oblivion won't be the worst game ever.
more leaked oblivion screenshots?
Another Crapbox360/Oblivion tidbit.
100+ "screenshots" from that Bethesda-game you kno

There's more Oblivion/Morrowind/Bethesda talk than anything else. Get a grip. Dammit. Either make a dedicated board, a sticky, and ban every asshole who starts a new topic. It's getting ridiculous. I'll admit I lurk the board in hopes of spotting a decent indie RPG once in a while. It used to be the best place to find people who actually played them and read a wide range of opinions.

We've noticed. I'm dreading release day when they'll somehow find a way to post even more Oblivion topics. I don't even read them anymore, they're too dull.

I thought mostly everyone at the Codex agreed to call Morrowind "shit", so how come they're now so excited about it's sequel?

And yeah, either the Codex is dull and is only posting updates to existing indie RPG or the market is really going down.

Look at 2005's RPGs. Kotor II was considered the best RPG by many, and that was probably because it was the only really big one besides like Dungeon Seige II.

Most of those topics are pointless arguments about Oblivion because there's a handful of braindead Bethesda fanboys who've decided to convince us that it'll be the bestest game ever.
