I wanted a shorter name with fewer numbers in it that represented what a douchebag Susan is. I was also kind of on the spot, but I think it works pretty well.Koki wrote:Shouldn't it be S3ph1r0t15 then?

I started playing Arcanum about two and a half years ago, and I'm still playing it. Once a month, every month, I load the latest game and scroll through my journal for 30 minutes to see what I was doing last time I played. Then I get bored and quit without saving.
It's amazing when you first start out, especially with all the techno gadgetry and trash-collecting involved, but by the time you've gotten somewhere and become someone, piled all the extra quest things together, got the main part neatly figured out - it's shit. When you hit that mentality, you suddenly see all the flaws in plain view illuminated by a bright light. Music's great doh.

"A role-playing game (RPG) is a type of game in which players assume the roles of characters and collaboratively create narratives. Gameplay progresses according to a predetermined system of rules and guidelines, within which players may improvise freely. Player choices shape the direction and outcome of role-playing games."

"RPG gameplay elements can be found in real-time strategy games, first-person shooters, third-person shooters, and some other types such as massively multiplayer online games. However, games that are actually called just "RPGs" are usually limited to top-down perspective point-and-click and some third-person perspective types."
That sounds about right.

"In the beginning, God rolled up Adam. He gave him a STR of 12 for which to hunt with, a DEX of 13 so he could deftly avoid predators and door to door Jehova's Witnesses, and an INT of 16 so he would know to avoid the church. He clad him in leather armour and armed him with a sling. He then gave him the necessary living provisions, such as a Bedroll, Iron Rations, Flint and Steel for his...sling..., and Masterwork Thieves Tools. God had Adam on many wondrous adventures alone (soloing) until he was high enough level to have earned a familiar, at which point he rolled up Eve. Adam and Eve went on (in game) to have somewhat in the vicinity of 6 million offspring, all of whom are mindless inbred idiots, though they could buy off those disadvantages by simply removing "brainwashed by a religion" or, "Brainwashed by the Irreligious" from their drawbacks column."
Serious Business.

Anyway, I wanted to say my word about Arcanum:
-crappy combat [worse than Morrowind];
-extremely unbalanced tech/magic sides [magic too cheesy and tech too dull];
-diabloesque levels in which you have to fight millions of similar monsters to find the whatever needed quest item after;
-buggy;
-crashy;
-wierd character development [devs really did not think it through].
What I liked:
-really good music;
-the intro movie;
-some NPCs;
-portraits;
-no loading between indoors/outdoors.
In brief, it's a dream game that actually turned bad. Anyone that refutes that has no credibility, really.
I think it was best for Troika to die actually. They really had the best RPG ideas and dreams but never managed to deliver in any of their 3 games. Best for them to be history.
