You could also exchange it for three Powdres of Healing, or any combination of the two to have 2 of them

Flamer is a fun weapon, especially against aliens. If you feel like you're tuff, you can kill Horrigan with Red Ryder LE BB Gun.
I checked Per's Fallout 2 guide and the weapon that does most damage is Holy Hand Grenade, so I guess that must be the best weapon.

Assault Rifle is the choice of a true patriot 
The ammo is plentiful, magazine capacity is humongus, range is longer than that of a Hunting Rifle, which makes it a great sniper weapon with close-range combat capability with its devastating full-auto burst mode. Damage is on the weak side, however, so it should only be used by professionals!!!!!!!
