1) Open up the first mission - mission01.mis (located in the Fallout Tactics\core\campaigns\missions\core folder)

2) Click on Entity (at the top of the screen)

3) Navigate the left-hand window to the folder that you saved the actors in

4) Select the first actor you want to put in the map, and click in the map where you want the actor to go. The character is now in the map.

5) Click on Entity Edit (next to Entity)

6) Click on the actor you just placed, and scroll the left-hand window downwards until you see the item "Player Index." Change this to 1

7) Repeat steps 2 - 6 to place additional actors in the map.

8 ) Click File -> Save

9) Start a new game!

Be aware that with 6 people in Brahmin Wood, the mission is going to be very easy.

Now, I've a question for you:

When you said you've made 6 squad members, do you mean 6 individual actors or 5 individual actors and the 6th is a prefab? If you've made 6 individual actors, and you want 'em all in the map, you have some extra stuff to do:

1) Make sure at least one of the actors is saved as prefabX.ent (replace the X with a number of your choosing, 6 is (IIRC) the lowest you want)

2) Make sure the prefabX.ent file is in Fallout Tactics/core/entities/Special/prefab/

3) When you start the new game, you'll have to select the prefab you made like you would a normal prefab (i.e. Snake, Peter, Wilma, etc).

That's about it, really. Any more questions, you know where to put 'em :D

Well, the easiest way to put portraits with your new characters is to open up gui_0.bos in WinZip and scroll down till you see things like CORE_rec_go01.zar - all of these CORE_rec_xxYY.zar files are character portraits, just pick the one you like (use RedViewer or the Entity Editor to see which recruit uses which .zar), extract the .zar to Fallout Tactics/core/gui/char, and rename the .zar to whatever the Display Name/file name of the character's .ent is. By the way:

goXX.zar = Ghouls
hmXX = human male
hfXX = human female
smXX = Super Mutant
rvXX = Reaver
raXX = Raider
trXX = Tribal

I think that's it...

Of course, you can use a portrait from a special NPC (i.e. General Barnaky, one of the QM's, etc.). The same method applies to assigning that portrait to one of your characters.

You can make your own portraits, but that requires some more work (getting the dimensions and palette right, etc.)
