S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Q&A With Yavorsky

[Game -> Interview] - More info on Person: Oleg Yavorsky | More info on Company: NetDevil | More info on Game: S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadows of Chernobyl

Today Gamecloud posted an interview with S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S.'s, Oleg Yavorsky who remains positive about the games production and elaborates on why the game has been delayed...

"Gamecloud - GSC GameWorld has been working on the game for quite some time now. What has the company learned about both making the game and just game development in general since it first
started work on S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Oleg Yavorsky - Firstly, we didn’t expect the project to be that big and resource-demanding. At some point we found ourselves piled under a mound of features, part of which (such as life simulation for instance) have never been implemented in any game. Therefore, experimenting on AI and unusual linking of survival-shooting-RPG experience took us a great deal of time. Luckily, at this point that huge stage is over and we can be proud of the fact that nearly all the features initially declared (and some extra added later) have worked out for us. We are very keen to stick to the promises made. The development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has, without a doubt, been an immensely valuable experience for us, particularly on gameplay design and programming side."

It seems like they didn't realize what they were getting into, but after being confronted with reality, decided to push forward and extend the development time accordingly, instead of rushing a buggy POS... Lets hope the game dosn't suck and that they "Gitterdun"!
