Why's this on the DAC news?... I feel sorry that the guys dead but there where many other popes before him. No way is this a sign of a 'comming apocalypse.' the guy was in his 80's for christs sake.

Well, he became the Pope in the 70s... Most of us have only known JP2 as Pope, like me, I was born in 80. Personally, I've never seen how they celebrate the comeing of a new Pope and the Vatican is going to be very busy over the coming months... It will be interesting to watch.

Far as the coming Apocalypse... The Catholic curch still holds quite a bit of influence over the world around us... With Billions of Catholics world wide... Jeesh, a Pope can change a lot. I personally think it's very relivant news... But, if nothing else, simply interesting. Besides, the Apocalypse isn't 1 massive act... It's a series of smaller actions, here and there... All leading up to The Wasteland.

For example, JP2/Regan put a lot of pressure on the USSR during their time as Pope/President and aided in the destruction of Communist Russia... Perhaps the next Pope will put the same/more pressure on China because of it's Human Rights violations/Communism... And as we all know, Bush love's God, so... Hell, maybe that would solidify the US's lust for war and bring more support from Europe (lotta Europeans are Catholic)... All banding together to force China to change it's policies? While that's a simplistic idea... The same has held true throughout history... "In God We Trust"... If the church backs the state, then those who oppose the state, oppose God and no one wants to oppose God... So you open a whole nother can of worms.

How do you figure that there are BILLIONS of Catholics, given that the Earth's population is 6 billion and that India and China combined probably make up about 2.25 billion of that?

There's about one billion Cathlocs on the planet, so the Pope and the Catholic church are pretty powerful. If the Pope says jump then vast numbers of people are going to ask "how high?"

I don't recall how the next Pope dies, they may not even know, but I guess the last Pope will be assassinated by the forces of evil or some such thing. It's not like I really been studying it or anything, because I don't really care. If it happens it happens and we're all fucked. Not a whole lot anyone can do about it but steal as many TV's as you can from the local electronics store.
