I've been playing the Gamecube Resident Evil lately, a game that proves the Cube isn't a kiddy console. It is a lot scarier than the originals.

Also, the game is a lot different than the original, at the beggining it is pretty similar but it all changes later on and is both creepy and scary. At one point in time I jumped nearly 3 times in about a second. Something scared me, I thought I was okay then again and again... the only time I ever jumped in the original was the dog scene and I am jumping in every scary part of this game.

Silent hill was really f'n scary. The camera angles helped with that i.e. in the school or hospital when you went into a corridor and suddenly the radio begins to go off then something jumps out the shadows!! :o

The only problem with silent hill was all the slow burn tension, and then you came across a small thing making pig noises. The only time it ever scared me was when i let the cat out of the locker...

I can't WAIT to get a GC so that I can play the new Resident Evil games!

I think that Silent Hill plays on your fears in alot more angles than RE.
The radio static aspect alone gets your nerves up. Triangle man scared the hell out of me. There's a feeling of helplessness in the first SH. You can't shoot straight. You fall down if you trip on something. You are not a military specialist like you are in RE. Thats what makes it scarier for me.

RE for Playstation was scary for its time, but not completely creepy like SH.
I can't say anything about the GC version, but I've heard its a million times scarier than the PS version.

Just my opinions.

Silent Hill was scarier... but Resident Evil was a much better game... RE had more going on and was more fun to play and it was longer.

And damn them for putting RE on the gamecube... I don't wanna have to buy GC for just one or two games... ;)

Resident Evil never scared me. It was just an action game to me.

Silent Hills 1 & 2 actually stuck with me long after I had finished playing the games. Both were far scarier, and FAR more disturbing games. I'm still afraid to be alone if it's foggy out.

The part of the game that's permanently scarred into my brain is the part in the first where he's in the alternate school, and the toy phone in one of the rooms starts ringing, he picks it up, and it's his daughter begging for help. 8O
