Killer Betties find a Killer Woman

Post by Mr. Teatime »

<strong>[Game -> Interview]</strong> - More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... le=Valerie Massey">Person: Valerie Massey</a> | More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... t">Company: NCsoft</a> | More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... title=Auto Assault">Game: Auto Assault</a>

The <a href="http://www.killerbetties.com">Killer Betties</a>
are at it again. This time they're not complaining about UIs too
complex for their poor womens' brains to handle, but profiling <strong>Valerie "Pann" Massey</strong>, the Community Coordinator at <a href="http://www.ncsoft.net/">NCsoft</a>, publishers of <a href="http://www.autoassault.com">Auto Assault</a>.

<blockquote><em><strong>Do you feel you are advantaged or disadvantaged as a female in an industry so dominated by men? </strong>

I sincerely feel that my being a woman has nothing to do with it,
though I will certainly acknowledge that women are still in the
minority in the industry overall. There was never a time at Simon and
Schuster Interactive or at NCsoft that I felt being a woman had any
bearing on how I was treated or my ideas were received. Maybe it's
different at other companies and I've been really lucky not to have
worked for them.</em>

</blockquote>
It's a slightly more intelligent interview than the <a href="http://www.duckandcover.cx/forums/viewt ... 1378">last one</a>, so I don't have much to say, apart from pointing out that Valerie says she "<em>married someone I met through <a href="http://www.uo.com/">Ultima Online</a>.</em>" It seems every person I read about has married someone from <em>Ultima Online</em>.

A closet misogynist, eh Teatime ? No, I agree, their ah . . journalistic tendencies are a bit suspect. Though due to style, form and composition for example rather than something so basic as sex, in my opinion. :drunk:

It's a tie between Killer Betties and Ladies of Neverwinter as to which is the worst 'female gaming' site.

Why cant most females just stick with the already existing fansites and chit....
Why must things be created 'for women'.

Its like they cant do anything without explicitly pointing out that they are, in fact, women. Each day has to be a vagina monologue, or it just isnt worth getting up in the morning.

In this day and age, who isn't?
There are no 'knowns'. There are thing we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know. So when we do the best we can and we pull all this information together, and we then say well that's basically what we see as the situation, that is really only the known knowns and the known unknowns. And each year, we discover a few more of those unknown unknowns.

Femenists suck. "HE'S SMOKING TAR! I WANT TO SMOKE TAR! HE'S BEING DECAPITATED! I WANT TO BE DECAPITATED!" Lets get rid of individualism once and for all, and treat everyone and everything equally shitty.

Im fine with generalization doh, sure! Your ex wife was retarded, I guess all women are. It's not like things like this will go away anyhow.

Well, enough of that. Back to UO, maybe I'll get lucky. :drunk:

They're all crazy, buddy. It just surfaces at different times, for different ones. I know these things, I'm a man of science. :drunk:

Not that new, actually.

Hmm, a fair few women, perhaps ?

Personally I'm ambivalent to feminists. When feminism becomes misandry, however . . . Well, extremes are unhealthy. :drunk:
