[Game -> Update] - More info on Game: S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadows of Chernobyl

For those of you who are interested in pre-ordering your copy of S.T.A.L.K.E.R., you can do so, online at Best Buy. Here's some of what they have to say about the game...

"S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is a roleplaying game that puts you in the role of a stalker. You earn money by shoveling embers out of the Zone and selling objects to underground dealers and scientists. With the money you earn you can purchase equipment, weapons and protective suits to take you further into the Zone. Explore an interactive environment with changing times of day, weather and other features. Be careful and stay aware as you explore the Zone, because dangers lurk around every corner."

According to the requirements, you'll need a Pentium III, 1Gz with 500MB of Hard Drive space, along with a GeForce 3 or Raedon 8500 or higher video card. Their release date is set for 3/1/2005.

Only 500MB? For some reason I'm having trouble believing that... Most games take up around 2GB.

This is newsworthy? "Best Buy are idiots and liars" would be a better title.

For the sake of journalistic integrity, I shall assume that is American dating. Either way however, they're fucked. icon_drunk

One number is wrong - thats for sure. IMO game has become really old while it was developed...and the heck! Since when STALKER is an RPG?? In their interviews they even stressed that "this is not a role playing game", but "it has role play elements". Now they bundle the same shit in just another box?

The planned release-date was in May this year... But even the official game site states that they wont make the deadline:
"We're happy THQ has afforded us more time to work on this. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is a huge, genre-defining game and we're going to make sure we release the game when it's reached our own very high standards, and those expected by our fans, and not before." - Oleg Yavorksy, GSC Game World

This reminds me a bit of the half-life 2 drama...

I like their bullshit-speak for "OMG WE'VE FUCKED UP, TIME TO PANIC AND CUT, CUT, CUT".
